ShockCast Ep. 164 – “Politically Incorrect”

I was sitting here all year waiting for the inevitable Assassin’s Creed V announcement and got Batman: Arkham Knight instead, and no, that’s not a complaint. However, I am still apprehensive given the amount of Batman we have received in the past five years – I wonder if my colleagues on the show feel the same?

This week on the ShockCast we’ll be discussing the new game, as well as chatting a bit about the newly released South Park: The Stick of Truth and The Walking Dead: Season Two‘s second episode, “A House Divided.” As usual, there will be a rundown of some of the most recent news as well.

This week I’m joined by Joel Taveras (Deputy Editor & Co-Founder), Ryan Meitzler (Staff Writer), and Tony Polanco (Staff Writer). Many thanks to El Blanco Niño for our custom intro and outro.

The ShockCast is LIVE tonight at 8:45pm EST. The downloadable copy will be available tomorrow.

AAA games these days are usually built to become long running franchises. AAA games are massive investments that need safe returns. Hence why we see nigh every AAA franchise being turned into frequently released installments.

Those who want content that feels less redundant needs to be more involved in the indie and smaller scale projects where there’s more autonomy for creative pursuits. Sure you’ll sacrifice production values and top paid talent in the industry but you’ll have your “innovative” pie.

I’m personally amped for this new Batman. It’s by Rocksteady. The guys who basically made Batman a high water mark standard for the Batman franchise of games. With the shackles of last-gen tech left behind we can expect something that really impresses.
