inFAMOUS: Second Son Developer Talks About Powers; Game Has Been in Development for 2.5 Years

Delsin Rowe’s amazing powers are the front and center of the upcoming PS4 exclusive inFAMOUS: Second Son, and today Senior Game Designer Darren Bridges responded to quite a few questions from the fans about our new favorite conduit’s abilities.

While most of the answers included information we already know, we learn some trivia about the development of Delsin’s powers:

One of my favorite parts of the development was getting to work with the awesome FX artists at Sucker Punch. I’d come in with an idea for a power, they’d say “hmm, that’s impossible”. Then like an hour later I’d come back and they’d say “ok I did it”

Bridges also mentioned the studio’s search for the delicate balance between making the powers feel awesome but still keeping the game challenging:

That’s always the balance we’re striving for- it’s easy to make powers that are OP, but it’s difficult to make powers that FEEL awesome but also facilitate a good challenge.

He also mentioned the philosophy between the powers’ selection and implementation:

It was a long process of creation, testing, and revision. We wanted each power set to feel unique, and we wanted to give a sense of progression as well as you play through the game.

lastly, Bridges mentioned that the game has been in development for two years and a half, and that Delsin’s powers have been worked on since the start:

We started working on them from the very beginning of development two and a half years ago, and continued all the way to the end!

Considering what we’ve seen so far of the game, we can definitely say that Sucker Punch did a great job in those two years and a half. The game will be out both in North America and Europe on March 21st. The wait is almost over.
