inFamous Developers Encourage Players to “Enjoy Your Power” With New Video

by on March 25, 2014 2:01 PM 36

Yesterday, Sony offices in Europe encouraged players to get crazy, with a graffiti portrait of the game that touted the phrase “Enjoy Your Power.” Today, the developers behind the game are also encouraging players to enjoy their power, with a new video showing why the game is so great, and why it can only exist on the PS4.

With commentary from Studio Sucker Punch’s Game Director Nate Fox and Brand Director Ken Schramm, there really isn’t anything here that you haven’t heard before, but if you’ve been on the fence, maybe the power of the PS4 and everything the developers put into the game will change your mind.

Or you could just read DualShockers’ review by our very own Tony Polanco, and why he believes that through the game, next-gen has finally arrived.

For more on the game, check out all of our inFamous: Second Son news.

I don’t want to, but looks like I need a second job. If not, I won’t be able to play Second Son until it’s sequel has been out for a year.

  • Gannicus

Next-gen has arrived? all the consoles are getting with next gen multiplatform engines are downgrades. The Next-Generation of downgrades has arrived lmao. Infamous can only be on the PS4 cus its a first party title by Sony and they don’t want to share

    • Michael Balchunas

Infamous wasnt downgraded at all… Just cas you saw watchdogs on a high end PC and then on a PS4 you think this gen is ruined? Thats pretty sad.

      • Gannicus

I said multiplatform engine, watch dogs is downgraded, assassins creed Unity will be downgraded, witcher 3 will downgraded etc etc and im talking from the trailers they show of the game basically depicting what they want the game to look like such as assassins creed unity thatll be rendered in engine but doubt its gameplay so PS4 owners will be expecting that level of detail when its only possible to achieve on a PC cus the PS4 is not powerful enough then Ubisoft will get same crap as they have about watch dogs and they don’t realise its $400 may perform like a $600 machine which is still pretty low end and they expect the world.

        • neko working

“only possible to achieve on a PC”

Average people’s PC is $600. That’s The World’s Reality. LMAO

        • Gamez Rule

May I ask you something? It’s about your PC.

I would like to know what GPU you use hand how much RAM it has ( as well as your System Memory ) plus Processor?

          • Gannicus

i7 950, 12GB ram + 3GB 280x. Yeah I know it costs a lot more than a console but I can also do more with it like video encoding etc and ya know feel like bit of photoshop straight on it so its better for me personally.

I know consoles are good value for money but like with the watchdogs downgrade its not really a downgrade its just fiddling with the settings and if the framerate is to unstable at to high a setting then best to lower it, so that’s all it is. With new game engines from everyone (not sure what watch dogs runs) the new AC engine looks 10 times better than AC4 and Snowdrop engine is come out with the division which looks good etc there going to have high gfx settings for 1. to show off the capabilities of the engine and 2. so the people who buy high end hardware have something to try and fully utilize it.

Gfx engines prolly do get better with consoles release cus theres to much variety in PC hardware and with like steam with 660′s me and a lot of gamers would call that low end hardware now you need new game engines and higher gfx to try and push hardware sales to get ppl to upgrade and most systems only need to upgrade the gfx card, so guess the consoles are the best incentive to create new engines cus millions of ppl will be running the same thing.

so yeah in some ways consoles are better than PC’s but both have there ups and downs I spose

          • Gamez Rule

Reason I asked you that question was to compare to mine.

My gaming PC = i7-4770K placed in an Asus Z87 maximus VI extreme Intel Z87 motherboard, with 16GB of vexir Core Blue Series 2400MHz Quad Channel Memory, and a Sapphire HD 7990 GPU.

Now My PC could make your PC setup look like a downgrade system when compared side by side ( for gaming needs ) as you couldn’t run games as good as I can, BUT is that really a downgrade/?

But here is the main point… It don’t matter how powerful my PC is ( It still cannot play Infamous Second Son ) no matter how high my hardware is rated over PS4. In fact my PC cannot play Infamous from PS3.

So what am I pointing out to you?

          • shinitaru

lol, Your system is the logical upgrade to mine I have the i7 3770k placed in t Asus Maximus V Gene with 32gb of Corsair Vengeance 1866 with an Asus GTX 660 ti graphics card

          • Gamez Rule

To be honest mines wasted. If I was you I’ll stick to what you got. If you do upgrade just change the GPU?

But getting back to the PC question I asked it was only to show that no matter what power you have sitting in a PC when compared to consoles that PC cannot play the consoles exclusive games.

People seem to setup on power than gaming ( better known as fun )☺

          • shinitaru

Yeah, I have no upgrade plans I was just pointing out the similarities in our builds. I always build new systems at the end of their cycle, cheaper parts that way. Mine is just over a year old, I wont need to upgrade anything but the GPU for at least 5 more years

          • Gannicus

yeah I know what your saying about not being able play exclusives which is fair enough, when AC Unity and all them come about its going to be watch dogs all over again in the articles about graphical differences so going to be mad again

          • Gamez Rule

See this is the PC differences… Not all gaming PCs make the PS4 look worse in the graphical department. If you look at STEAM stats the average gaming PC is below PS4 specs needed for games. ( Not multitasking programs )

Like I was saying before.. I can max out ALL games and play them with a very good framerate, ( even better than your PC ) so I could say, that mine looks better than yours, and there are many PC gamers out there that can say the same thing to me, yet with PS4 all the games are the same.

          • Gannicus

yeah whatever whats the point let the developers target 570′s and the x1 then cus obviously catering for the crowd that has higher end hardware is pointless!

          • Gamez Rule

It is pointless because not everyone has a gaming PC, and most PC gamers have hardware that developers can’t fully utilise anyway.

Example = IF developers made a game only to be used on a HD 7990 then 99% of gamers couldn’t play that game. So they have to cater for low/med/high/ultra/custom hardware when making PC games, while on PS4 they can do what they like as the consoles have the same hardware which helps game development.

          • Gannicus

yeah I know im talking multiplatform, a developer wont make a game with a graphical target of that of the PS4 cus its not good enough to showcase the engine and wouldn’t look as good as they could make it. Infamous looks good cus it had an engine built specifically for the PS4 and everything that it did was based on its hardware architecture, on a multiplatform game the engine cannot be built specifically for one platform to get the most out of it.

Im not saying they should give games a 780 gfx target cus the low end like X1+PS4 would not look as good compared to it and the majority of PC players wont have that type of hardware. But to say they should only cater for mid level hardware is bad. They can add extra eye candy, denser world, lower LOD scaling etc with more powerful hardware upto a reasonable point besides if your using a 780Ti these days youll be driving 1440p/multi monitor setups where the increase in resolution demands a more powerful card. If I had a 1440p monitor I wouldn’t of bought a 280x id of bought a 290. When a game comes out I want play next year im buying top of the range Nvidia/AMD cus 1 itll give me a comfort zone and the game is targetting a 780 for max details at 1080p also im thinking of sli’ing/xfiring later on if I get a 4K monitor so need the extra horses

          • Gamez Rule

My HD 7990 beats the 780Ti ( http://www.hwcompare.com/16378/geforce-gtx-780-ti-vs-radeon-hd-7990/ ) and yet I use it on a 24″ 1920×1200 Monitor most of the time. I have played games using my PC on the family 4k TV, but that only possible when getting a day free from the family using it.

          • Gannicus

Yeah I know it does no need to keep slapping statistics in my face cus its 2x 7970′s on 1 PCB, my point being at the moment that level of graphical power is only suited for running higher than 1080p (even for 1920×1200 is massive overkill unless your running 3D) monitors/TV’s as no game takes that much power to render at 1080p so in ways its way under utilised and not worth the money on 1 screen @ 1080p. so would you prefer you games to look like they max out on a 660 or would you prefer they add a little something for ppl with the power to spare? such as a proper ultra mode which could be considered as having a higher res texture pack modded into the game?

          • Gamez Rule

Tell me you are joking when you typed “as no game takes that much power to render at 1080p”?

            Reason I ask is this.

Metro Last Light ( completely maxed out ) at 1080p using my PC still drops frame-rates like a whore and her draws. It cannot hold a solid 60 frame per second at all, and Crysis 3 maxed out still drops below 60fps when the going gets tough.

When *some PC gamers put down the PS4 for not doing 1080p at 60fps at highest graphical settings, I sometimes laugh too myself thinking that not even a high end PC can keep a solid frame rate of 60fps at 1080p when maxing out some games☺

          • Gannicus

crysis 3 is very poorly optimised for high end hardware so ya cant really use that as a benchmark.
You’ve just argued your own point away. if developers target whatever steam users are mostly running you wouldn’t have crysis 3 and metro LL graphical fidelity cus what the point when the majority of steam users cant run it that high.

          • Gamez Rule

No I haven’t argued my own point away, Ive just told the truth.

The truth is that not even a High end PC can keep a solid 60fps frame-rate while running at 1920 x 1080 ( with some games maxed out fully ) like Metro Last Light.

So all that showed is this.. Developers cannot take full advantage of PC hardware or utilize it like people are lead to believe as IF they did do thee above these problems would happen.

          • Gannicus

not really cus lets say DX12/mantle comes in give more free performance but when every card gets that free performance and becomes the norm do ya think they’ll just sit back and create the same old stuff? no they’ll increase the graphics level to take advantage of that extra performance so there will still be a power gap between say 660 on steam and 780′s so whereas metro LL will be a lot easier to run on a 660 then there will be something else that comes out to take advantage of the extra performance and youll be back at square 1. so steam means nothing, just a bunch of part time gamers besides increasing gfx level and slowly forcing them into low settings is basically nudging them saying, come on man its time to upgrade!

          • Gamez Rule

“increasing gfx level and slowly forcing them into low settings is
basically nudging them saying, come on man its time to upgrade!”

Well I shouldn’t need to upgrade any part of my gaming PC, and yet my games can still drop frame rates causing judder when games are maxed out at just 1080p even when using Mantle in some games. So even by using DX12/Mantle it will still happen on many GPUs on the market ( including R9 280x ) ect.

          • Gannicus

I wouldn’t say that mantle is particularly stable yet and it is still in beta after all and drivers + the implementation in games needs more work, the performance charts show the frame spikes or someat smoother but in reality atm I think DX still has the edge. We do need games to push the gfx further and if these steam users don’t want to upgrade well then, just leave them behind. Besides whose to say those steam users just play the cheap stuff on PC or simply just have it installed for some reason but spend most of there time on a console?

          • Gannicus

you don’t need an upgrade my i7 950 is like very old tech cus I think it was about 3-4 years between initial release and sandybridge so atm my cpu is 6 years old technically and I bet itll be fine for another 6-8 years tbh. The only think worth upgrading for is DDR4 other than that just change your GPU especially with mantle and DX 12 coming the CPU wont be the bottleneck for gfx cards anymore so stick 1 or 4 in, should be gravy :d

          • shinitaru

As I already said, I have no upgrade plans, I was merely comparing the similarities in mine and @gamezrule:disqus builds. His is the flagship processor of the Haswell line and mine is the flagship processor of the Ivy Bridge line, our motherboards are the same for all intents and purposes only he has more expansion slots and the necessary change from LGA1155 to LGA1150 to accommodate the Haswell. We’re practically running the same maching, his is better on paper, but I doubt you would notice the difference without running a benchmark.
BTW, the GTX 660 ti is a Fermi card and is DX12 compliant already. I’ll wait and see before I make any decisions about switching to an AMD card for Mantle.

          • Gannicus

Yeah they are still quite overkill aren’t they although hopefully with new engines taking advantage of 8+core/thread systems might get better use out of them. The new Haswell-E 6+8 cores are out soon aren’t they? they’ll be nuts, mostly ususeable for games but still nuts haha

          • shinitaru

Yeah they are overkill, even with my GPU being a bit dated, its more than enough to max out any game that I run on it, at least at 1080p which is all my TV will go anyway, not going to bother with 4k till it becomes the standard and the prices come way down

          • Gamez Rule

            Good taste in PC hardware☺

          • shinitaru

            Heh, you too

          • Gannicus

think I was talking about multiplatforms there and how ppl were moaning there console version was not as good as what was shown at E3 2012 but I could be wrong, if talked that must rubbish I cant remember what I was on about

          • Gamez Rule

This is what I was pointing out. Even when you play the same multi-plat as me I could look at your version and call it a downgraded version due to my PC being better than your one.

But it’s not is it.. Not really. It’s the same game ( as on consoles and PC ) just settings add or remove gaming needs.

          • Gannicus

yeah the game is the same but everyone was moaning about the graphical differences, I even said that watch dogs looked really fun whether it was played at mid gfx or max gfx… the gfx didn’t matter cus it looks kind of GTA esque. once the game gfx is maxed at the same res ours would look exactly the same but a lower powered PC or whether it be console, details etc will be lowered to make the game playable at the target res and framerate the developer/user wants and that’s what they cant seem to understand.

        • Michael Balchunas

Whatever man. No one was ever talking about downgrades until that Watch Dogs story trailer came out and now all of a sudden all games get downgraded? If I remember correctly AC4 looks exactly like what it was advertised as. Your just a pessimistic hipster troll.

  • Gamez Rule

If anyone has a TV that converts 2D images into 3D then they have to see this game in 3D. It looks crazy.
