A couple days ago during a show on CNN Turk, Market Manager at Sony Eurasia Sercan Sülün said that The Last of Us will be coming to PS4. Since then Sony has denied but not really denied, saying that they have “nothing to say” about it.
In the meanwhile industry insider Pete “Famousmortimer” Dodd, that is known to have quite solid sources at Sony and has a good track record with the information he receives from them, mentioned on NeoGAF that the PS4 release of the game is indeed real.
They aren’t going to say anything about it… but it’s true.
A further element has been added by one of our readers, Twitter user IH8YH, that snapped a picture of GameStop Germany’s internal system at his local store.
The release date is an obvious placeholder, as November 16th, 2014 and May 17th, 2015 are used for other games that don’t have a firm release window announced yet. The canceled Star Wars 1313 is also visible, but GameStop isn’t new to leaving canned titles into its system, so I wouldn’t read much into it.
Interestingly enough we can also see “Tomb Raider Arbeitstitel” (Tomb Raider Working Title) listed for PS4, and we do know that a next gen Tomb Raider sequel is currently in the works.
Of course we should still take this with a nice pinch of salt until Sony comes through with an official announcement, but a PS4 version of The Last of Us seems more and more likely. It’d also be unsurprising, as I doubt there’s be many moves that would make more sense than that one for Sony, considered the widespread acclaim from fans and critics the game received.
