BlazBlue developer Arc System Works just sent in a press release teasing a new game codenamed BRCS to be revealed on April 23rd. A website has also been opened, showcasing a very well endowed and beautifully drawn protagonist that definitely looks like Rayne from BloodRayne and an interesting sentence:
She who fights with monsters might take care lest she thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.
The press release included no information about what the game actually entails or about the platforms it’ll be released on or its genre. All it says is:
Today we published a teaser website of a new mysterious game. It includes the date 2014/4/23 and the name “BCRS. There’s the picture of a beautiful lady displayed in the middle of the black background! What the hell do those elements mean? Will the deepening mystery be cleared in a follow-up? Stay tuned.
The acronym “BRCS” definitely sounds BloodRayne-related, while the “CS” could very well mean “Continuum Shift,” and could be a nod to Arc System Works’ BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, possibly pointing to a fighting game.
What’s even more interesting is that ArcSystem works was never involved with the BloodRayne series, which was previously published by Majesco and developed by Terminal Reality (with BloodRayne: Betrayal developed by WayForward). It’s very possible that Majesco decided to hand the development of the next chapter of the series to Arc System Works. Considering the massively different art style it could also be a reboot.
We’ll have to wait for April 23rd to know, and of course you can count on reading all about it here on DualShockers. One thing is for sure: I like this Rayne a lot more.
