ShockCast Ep. 174 – “Now for $399″

by on May 15, 2014 4:04 PM 80

This, my friends, is what we call a dramatic turn of events. This week, Microsoft announced that it would cut the price of its current gen Xbox One console by $100 dollars thus making it competitively priced with Sony’s PlayStation 4. How were they able to do this? By dropping the Kinect 2.0 peripheral.

Obviously this was a very Microsoft heavy episode of the ShockCast due to all of the news that came out of the MS camp. Not only do we go into detail about what this price drop means for the company and the gaming industry but also the Kinect’s real importance (or lack thereof) to the Xbox One experience. On top of that we also talk about the other Microsoft related announcements such as the dropping of the Xbox Live Gold pay wall for apps like Netflix and also how Games with Gold is now mimicking the PlayStation Plus model.

This show wasn’t completely about the green machine though. We talk about some other news items as well including our skepticism for Watch_Dogs and why we think it’s awesome that Bruce Lee is in EA Sports UFC. As usual, we do a run down of this week’s new game releases and chat about what games we’ve been playing.

This week I was joined by my fellow Staff Writers Ryan Meitzler and Jorge Jimenez along with Deputy Editor Joel Tavares and DualShockers TV Host Al Zamora. Thanks as always to El Blanco Niño for our custom intro and outro tracks.

They better not announce timed exclusivity for Mass Effect 4

  • LiquidSword

Another one of MS’s many lies. They said Kinect is an integral part of the Xbone and can’t and/or won’t be removed. They also said the DRM can’t be switched off. I’m still waiting to be able to scan my skateboard into my games like MS promised. Lies, lies, lies, MS is all lies. How many more 180s are they going to do?

    • Tony Polanco

I think this was the last 180, bro. They pretty much backpedaled on everything else. I wouldn’t say they were lying though. They saw that nobody liked what they were offering and they had to backtrack big time.

      • LiquidSword

People were asking for a Kinect-less SKU ever since the Xbone was announced and MS repeatedly said no. People were asking for no DRM and no always online BS long before they 180′d on it. The bots spin this as “MS is listening and being nice to us”. MS lost it’s way and the Xbone has no identity now. The Xbone is nothing but a PS4 me too console now. They cut DRM to copy Sony, they cut always online to copy Sony, they cut Kinect to copy Sony, they are now offering free games to copy Sony. They are offering weaker hardware for the same price as the more powerful PS4. Still a no sale for me.

        • Tony Polanco

MS was getting trounced and they needed to take drastic measures. Copying Sony? Well… if it works, right? Just saying.

          • LiquidSword

True. Can’t beat em, join em I guess.

            Great podcast, by the way.

          • Redinferno124

I hope this doesn’t lead to timed exclusivity for some of their big games like Mass Effect.

          • LiquidSword

It won’t. It’s damn near impossible to get timed exclusivity when your console is in dead last place and not selling.

          • Daniel Lawson

it’s called assured profit… MS pays for a portion of the development to insure that there is profit and in return they get exclusivity deal… it’s win win… eventual it comes to the other console if it does well and if it doesn’t it doesn’t cost the developer and publisher to much money

          • LiquidSword

In what world is it a win for a company to insure profits for a game that will be released on the competitor’s console six months to a year later? Titanfall didn’t help the Xbone at all. All multi plat games sell better on PS4. COD still has timed exclusive DLC for the Xbone but it still sells better on PS4 so what’s the point? That was money well wasted if the game still sells better on the PS4. Everyone knows by now that the so called 3rs party exclusives on Xbox almost always end up on PS4 so why buy an Xbone? Multi plats look and play better on ps4, sell better on PS4 meaning there will be more people to play with, much larger online communities, and the best party chat system. It’s a no brainer for 7 million people out there.

          • Daniel Lawson

it’s a win because you gain mind share on new IPs… Mass Effect was always seen as a MS game even after it went MP

          • Tony Polanco

Thanks bro. You know you were one of my favorite dudes who commented on the Throwdown. Glad you like the ShockCast. We bring that fire! :D

          • LiquidSword

I can’t comment on the Throwdown anymore because Torrence banned me for calling him out on guaranteeing that Titanfall would sell 2 million Xbones in March. I posted the tweet and then he deleted the tweet and banned me. Unbelievable.

On a side note, I was looking at your PSN profile and you make me want to step up my platinum game. lol

          • Redinferno124

I’ve seen him do that sometimes. I remember that whole argument you guys were having and I never saw the point. I had a feeling Xbox would come up short.

          • Dameon Percival

Sony copied Xboxlive, motion controls rumble so hey if someone copied what they did it is all fair.

          • They Call Me Senpai

Xbox Live was a copy of what Sega did on the Dreamcast, Sony did motion cotrols 6 years before the Wii came around and rumble wasn’t copied.

          • Dameon Percival

of what sega did, SEGA tried online witha 56k modem there was not chat, no achievments, no broadband, no hard drive, no party system, shit no friend system. so really what did sega bring, and check your reaserch Nintendo was the first to introduce rumble with the N64 and joysticks.

          • They Call Me Senpai

Does’nt matter, Sega still did it first, Microsoft just built on it _ which is natural, but everyone chooses to call it a ripoff when Sony does it.

“The original Rumble Pak, designed for the Nintendo 64 controller, was released in April 1997 in Japan, July 1997 in North America, and October 1997 in Europe.”

There were PC controllers with rumble long before 1997, sorry.

          • Tony Polanco

            Exactly. Nothing wrong with that.

          • Sucka Free

Sony had rumble on the PS1

        • Daniel Lawson

you’re whole argument falls apart liquid because Sony copied MS just as much… this whole industry is about taking the best parts of your competition and integrating it into your own system it’s what PSN is and it’s what the DualShock controller is… I don’t play hardware I play games… and if the games are better on my Xbox One it’ll get more play time then my PS4… that’s just how the cookie crumbles as they say

          • LiquidSword

My argument does not fall apart. I notice anytime MS gets called out for their BS and lies the MS always respond with “SONY TOO!!!”. Why is that? What did Sony have to do with this?

Also, play what you want. Most people (7 million) feel the better games are on PS4, though.

        • Cigi

Are you insane. You argue that it is just a PS4 without the kinect. But you can still buy it- right. If you want the full monty.

But on a side note yes the internet smashed all progress in the gaming industry. So we are all back at square with the PS4 which is really just a PC with a controller.

          • LiquidSword

Progress? You call flailing your arms to play games progress? You call using a $150 camera for simple voice commands progress? And you ask if I’m insane?

          • Cigi

Do you think Sony will use the Camera for VR ?
            Right – so!
On another note i love using my hands to control netflix. Actually i am a convinced user of the kinect as an UI controller. MS just by now have not come up with an compelling reason to use it in games. But I am sure it will come.

      • notcarolkaye

I’m sorry. I’m not looking to start an argument, but they absolutely lied. If kinect was actually as integral as they were saying pre-launch, then they would have never been able to remove it. Honest people would have at least acknowledged that it would be technically possible to release a kinect free variation. Manipulative people could have stayed within the truth by never saying anything concrete. However, they said specifically that the thing couldn’t function without kinect. They lied.

        • Dameon Percival

funny so it is ok for Sony to remove their camera from the box to lower the price but not MS?, you Ponies are too one sided!

          • Gamez Rule

Fact is Sony heard the people and done the right thing ( removing the camera that was never mandatory to begin with )

Meanwhile MS heard the people and stated that Kinect couldn’t be removed and sold Kinect bundled with Xbones anyway ( only to remove the so called mandatory camera months later ) which also showed that Phil lied about not being able to remove it in the first place☺

That’s not being one sided, it’s pointing out what really happened.

The Xbone needs a price drop ( lower than PS4 ) but above the Wii U if that’s the truth of the matter. MS didn’t lower the price ( they removed hardware which took their price down )

Why didn’t MS keep Kinect and then lower the price to PS4 ( That would have been a REAL price cut ) but MS being MS don’t care about it’s gamers, they only saw and heard about how good PS4 is selling and took actions to push a console that’s not doing as good as it’s competition.

          • ShellyWixtedipu321

            like
Ernest responded I am amazed that people able to profit $9067 in 4 weeks on the
            internet . try here Fiscalpost.COM

          • Glasscut

Funny people are still saying that Sony removed the camera. How is that even possible ?? the camera has always had a seperate skew.. Please read the official press release from Feb 2013.. No mention of camera at all just the PS4.. period..

          • notcarolkaye

Of, course it’s ok for them to have removed the camera. I think it was the right decision. Nothing I wrote has anything to do with disapproving of them for making kinect optional.

I was just saying that by removing kinect, they’ve proven that they were lying when the said that that they couldn’t remove it.

It had nothing to do with being a fanboy. That came from you. I give them nothing but credit for how they’re getting back on track. I’m fully confident that in 5 years it’ll be a thriving platform and these early stumbles will be a faded memory.

So yeah, I do have a PS4 and I’m really happy with it. It was the right choice for me. Me, but not everyone. If the Xbox One is the right choice for somebody else then I’m happy for them to have it as an option.

I really wish people would knock it off with this platform tribalism nonsense. It’s silly and requires a pretty narrow world view. I mean, there are child molesters out there. Compared to that it seems insane to me that I’d be offended by somebody who bought a different console than me.

          • Dameon Percival

I have to give you credit that is the firs mature response i have ever seen on this site.

          • notcarolkaye

Thanks to you as well. I should also acknowledge that there was some pent up frustration in my reply and it wasn’t exactly fair to direct it all at you. Sorry about that.

          • Cigi

A lie is a stong word. Nothing is impossible if you have the ability and the will. So clearly they made some huge efforts to be able to take it out. That does not mean they lied when they said it was not possible at that point in time. There is a big difference there !!!

          • SuperJamaican

Ponies I still wonder how old people can be to consciously post words like this.

          • XbotsAreCorporateScumbags

I find it even more funny that you xbots trust a company that doesn’t even stick by their guns. I would never support this kind of trash and I’m glad I knew at their Reveal that things didn’t look right and it was time to leave the brand for not giving a damn about the consumer.

To make matters worse, they gimped the xbox’s power because of the apps and kinect.. Now developers are up in arms who had kinect games planned because they know their install base for their games is going to be much lower now since MS was stupid enough to take out kinect in the first place..

I hate to break it to you, but they didn’t listen to any of you.. They see themselves getting spanked in sales, and in nearly all multiplat performance levels.. This is the exact same shit they did when they went back on their DRM. It’s all about money to them and that’s all that matters.

Then you have them finally wising up and freeing apps from that gold paywall? Yeah, you can thank Sony for everything pal.

          • Cigi

Ohhh that is so funny. what do you think Sony did last gen ?

Linux, ps3 compatible, pay to play online now…. are you serious ?

          • XbotsAreCorporateScumbags

Yes I’m serious.. The only people that gave a damn about Linux are computer nerds and pastey faced geeks. Pay to play online is something that Sony should have done since the begining anyhow as MS has proven people will pay for it.

Yes I’m very serious.. any questions?

Also, just a little friend FYI here.. I come down hard even on Sony all the time.. but it’s quite obviously MS holds the record for the number of lies, deceit, and manipulative things they have done..

In that right Sony is a saint in comparison..

          • Cigi

No way – Sony is by no means a saint on the contrary. You are really screwed up if you think so.
What do you think Sony did in regard to BluRay. Have you ever heard about the DRM scandals sony have had especially in regards to musc. Have you seen the patents they made where they wanted to include a NFC chip to hadshake it with the console. Also please go back to E3 2005 with the reveal of PS3. And then look back on that you will understand that they lied to all the fans on so many aspects that it is not even funny. 90% of what they said at the reveal was proven to be a LIE.

          • XbotsAreCorporateScumbags

I’m sorry but compared to Microsoft.. THEY ARE SAINTS IN comparison and when you consider the blatant crap they tried to pull at E3.. YOU must be really screwed up if you think so. Also don’t tell me to go back to the PS3′s launch.. I’m already fully aware of Sony’s 120FPS claims as well bud.. And in the end.. It STILL ISN’T COMPARABLE to all the crap MS has done since the 360′s inception.

Also everything you mentioned doesn’t effect me or the playstation brand… I don’t keep up with the tech world (not everyone is a no life geek) but I do keep up with the gaming industry. And on the gaming industry side of things.. Sony has lied maybe 7% at best while MS has lied nearly 80% of the time.

Lets just face facts here ok bud.. MICROSOFT IS NOT A COMPANY the consumer can trust:

            1. Lied about the DRM reversal
            2. Created a jack of all trades master at none gaming console because they had a screwed up vision NOBODY WANTED..
            3. Had cocky and arrogant attitudes towards the consumer.. with pole smokers like Don Mattrick and Adam Orth telling us that always online isn’t a big deal and that they have a product for people who don’t have internet..
            4. Lied about their vision of kinect.
            5. Abandoned their entire vision of their console.
            6. Alienated developers of kinect games now they they backpeddled again which only shows that Microsoft has NO SHAME, NO DIGNITY, NO SELF RESPECT AND NO RESPONSIBILITY TO THE CONSUMER.

In the end, MS doesn’t deserve to be in this industry.. and only the inept and uninitiated corporate sheep are the only idiots who are sticking around and actually believe in their claims that the cloud and directx12 is going to change hardware through software.

I don’t know about you pal, but as someone who has been gaming for 35 years.. Everything MS has done by not standing by their guns and their visions makes them look weak and simply can’t be trusted. Who in their right mind wouldn’t see this $399 Xbox as an act of serious desperation? Who in their right mind would believe anything that comes out of Microsoft’s PR anymore? Who in their right mind would trust a company that says one thing and then backtracks on it and doesn’t stick to their word?

Yeah pal, there is a reason why I left the X360 back in May after their reveal.. there is a reason why I sold both of my families Windows PC’s and bought them two IMACS… there is a reason why I’ll never buy or use any of Microsoft’s products and services again…

It’s called “Showing some self restraint and having some PRINCIPLES”..

The hate MS is getting now is all justified.. I’m just surprised so many people are incapable of rational thought and reading between the lines like a sensible and consumer conscience adult..

As I said, I despise these clowns, their entire fanbase, and the dude bro gamer culture that that 360 spawned. I will never buy or use any MS service from this moment forward..

          • Cigi

You have a serious problem dude. I will just say one thing. Nothing is impossible in this world. The funny thing is you are complaining about things that MS corrected – things that the INTERNET demanded of MS. They corrected it as they found out nobody was sharing their vision – or a least not the lound SDF on the internet.
All your points – is MS correcting what the marked wanted. HOW IS THAT SO BAD. You are a real jerk.

Compare that to SONY removing backward combability, removeing LINUX, bluntly lieing about what the PS3 had as features. I feel sorry for you – that you can not see the difference.

          • XbotsAreCorporateScumbags

While the insults kiddo? I’m a real jerk? You should get out more ans talk to gamers at E3 and Pax like I have and you would soon realize that there are many people.. (sensible adults) who know that Microsoft has tainted their image. The only ones who cant see this are the children and fanboys who can’t think for themselves and follow their friends to whatever console they go to. Apparently the real jerk here is you and since your tiny little brain can’t comprehend the fact that killing off physical media (No matter how you try to spin it) doesn’t compare to these things that sony has done that doesn’t affect me or the PS brand in my eyes.

Oh and I’m not complaining about the things MS correct.. I’m simply pointed out the hypocrisy of XBOX APPOLOGISTS like yourself who are so inept that you are incapable of seeing these things as also further tainting their god aweful image.

Sure they corrected these things.. but the damage has already been done.. and this is exactly what you fail to realize. As I said.. all these flip flops make them look like corporate ass clowns who can’t stand by their word or vision.

But of course it takes a sensible adult to realize this doesn’t it?

          • XbotsAreCorporateScumbags

Life must be rough for you.. having to admit defeat and all… :(

          • superkarma

As usual. an Xbox fanboy spreading misinformation/outright lies. Sony has already admitted the PS4 price was decided on long before E3. They also admitted they were contemplating including the camera at the same $399 price, but did research/survey and the majority of fans did not want the camera.

That is why they didn’t include the PS4 camera. It had nothing to do with having a lower price than the X1. If you’re going to be a fanboy, at least know the facts before talking about something.

          • Daniel Lawson

that’s what I’d tell everyone as well… also tell them the light that sucks up batteries on your PS4 wasn’t for the camera it was for VR all along…

          • Cigi

You are just so wrong. The camera was removed just before e3.

          • superkarma

I never said it wasn’t removed just before E3. I said the price was decided on long before E3. They also did a survey long before E3 and came to the conclusion the majority didn’t want the camera. Either way, they did not remove the camera to keep the $399 price, as you fanboys would love to believe.

            http://ps4daily.com/2013/10/sony-originally-wanted-to-include-playstation-camera-in-399-bundle/

          • Sucka Free

what is your definition of “just before”?

          • Glasscut

When did Sony announce that they removed the camera.. The camera has always been an accessory.. Since the PS3.. Good luck with that way of thinking..

      • Dameon Percival

Tony i am really disappionted in you guys, Kinect and the orignal view was the dream of Don he is gone this is Phils show so what he is doing is what he thinks is best for the brand this is his vision if the PS gets a new head and he tries somting different that will be his vision. so it is not a 180 but a different head with a different vision who has gone on the record as his vision is a games first and foremost console.

        • DEO エリヤデボンオットリ

Here’s hoping Xbox new team has a “NEW” vision in a varierty of choice in gaming genres and not just Fps after fps, almost more than half my xb360 library is shooters, the rest are fighters. profound sadness.

          • LiquidSword

Nope. They already announced Halo 1-4 HD remake and Halo 5. Also, notice how HD remakes are great now all of a sudden?

        • Tony Polanco

It is a 180. Microsoft is a corporation. It’s not about individuals. The company did a 180 when it comes to the Kinect. That isn’t something that can be debated. They clearly did.

      • Dameon Percival

Tony I know you have your bias just like i do but, i never thought i would see you put a misleading article just for hits, they didn’t drop kinect they made an optional SKU with out it, so i guess if sony does create a PS4 bundle with vita you are going to say to save the vita sony has packed it in with the PS4, and not mention that this is just a optional bundle?

        • Tony Polanco

How is it misleading, bro? To get the price to be $399 they had to drop the Kinect. That isn’t bias, that’s a fact.

          • Dameon Percival

This is one of two Sku’s available just like the 80 gig and 60 gig PS3s. it was not dropped like you are saying they just gave an option.

          • Tony Polanco

Dude, the Kinect was dropped in order to bring the price to $399. Like I said, come this time next year this will be the only SKU available. When the $399 comes out in June there will be two SKUs because nobody bought the $499 one. They’re still piling up in stores.

          • Daniel Lawson

No.. you’re incorrect… they didn’t drop it they created a SKU without one… totally different your words are actual a lie

          • Tony Polanco

They’re not a lie. They dropped it from the SKU. That’s a fact.

          • LiquidSword

Isn’t the Kinect DROPPED from the new SKU that they created?

        • Noimnotgoingto Sharemyrealname

They have removed the always connected Kinect requirement and now are no longer requiring that every Xbowner have a kinect, even if they don’t use it. Considering that their argument was that if enough people had kinects, then game developers would start building good games for the kinect, removing it from the SKU they intend to salvage their abysmal sales with effectively kills the device.

    • Daniel Lawson

Sony actually has that tied up… scanning object in for use in game

      • LiquidSword

Then why did MS clearly show that this would be a Kinect feature? How can YOU know this and a billion dollar corporation don’t?

    • Cigi

How do you know if this was not true at the point this was stated. Obviously they made changes so they were able to deliver what some people apparently wanted from Microsoft. They listen – and that is really what we all can hope for from a vendor.

So you think it is better to stay on course if you can see you are running of the cliff. WTF – are you retarded.

      • LiquidSword

“listen”? Haha, you guy make me laugh with this” they listen “spin. Do you think they would have” listened” if sales were good? People revolted against the DRM on physical discs and always online BS for months but MS didn’t “listen” until they saw the abysmal pre order numbers for the Xbone. If you think MS “listens” then it is you who are retarded. Notice how everyone was begging for MS to remove the free apps from behind the paywall for years but MS didn’t “listen” when the 360′s sales were strong but NOW all of a sudden they choose to “listen” and remove the paywall from free apps. Only Xbox fanatics believe in the “they listen” spin.

        • Cigi

You jerk. Did I say anything about where they listened. Off course the most compelling argument has been not enough people are buying the xo right now. What is your point – they react like every other sane company would. Look at Nintendo they should have been listening a long time ago.

Well i guess the best way out of this is just wait for E3 – i guess it is still about the games right.

Why Xbox fanatics ALWAYS resort to name calling? Everyone in here is being civil except them. They are calling people “jerks” and “ponies”. How mature. (sarcasm)

  • Gamez Rule

    ☺.☺.☺ less voice commands ☺.☺.☺

    • Daniel Lawson

it’s not going anywhere… Kinect version of Xbox One will still be produced and sold

      • LiquidSword

I doubt that. Once they sell the overstock of Xbones sitting on store shelves we won’t see anymore bundles with Kinect produced. MS already had to stop production on them because the demand isn’t there.

        • Daniel Lawson

no… it’s not likely they’ll stop making them… did they stop making Xbox 360 Kinect bundles?

        • Daniel Lawson

at the very least they’ll keep them going until they release the stand alone, but I think they’ll keep them going even then unless the Kinect is sub 100 dollars

  • Gamez Rule

People believe that due to Kinect being removed from bundles it makes Xbone more powerful?LMFAO!, of course it does make Xbone more power.

Do people believe that MS would release a more powerful console without Kinect leaving the 4.6 Million Xbones bundled with Kinect a weaker unit? LOL

MS knew gamers didn’t want kinect, developers wasn’t using kinect in all games, so think about it..

IF a game was made without taking advantage of Kinect that game would use more resources allowing the games to be a bit better than using Kinect which would take up gaming resources that developers needed. Just because Xbone now comes without Kinect doesn’t make Xbone any more powerful than before☺ It’s just resources that kinect was taking up can now be used by ALL Xbone consoles.

$400 with Kinect. Add Kinect and a game, you’ll be paying the launch price. The UK price is £350 ($588). Add Kinect and a game, same situation. With Kinect and Titanfall, the official price is £400, but can be picked up for £350 discounted, but I think the price is now touching £380 tops. Even if it was £300 without Kinect, with Kinect and a game, you’re looking at £400 tops. Basically, the launch price. This £350 price point is a no brainer. If recent sales figures are accurate, the One is around 3 million units behind the PS4. £300 with a game will boost sales. Most couldn’t care less about Kinect.

I didn’t want to say the term but you my friend are the definition of xbot. Mad at the jap when he said to get a second job, yet I hear you Microsoft fan girls screaming…” your too poor, that’s why you have ps4, you can’t afford an Xbox one” that’s what I hear now. Stop this hypocritical bullshit.

  • Gamez Rule

Kinect is the main gateway to Xbone’s media functions so without it people are left with hardware that looks more like the set-top box replacement it was designed to be rather than the state of the art next generation console MS made it out to be. In other words Xbone has lost it’s identity and by doing all the 180s it’s also very clear MS has lost all insight on how they wanted Xbone to differ from other consoles / media hardware.

Kinect may have been central Microsoft’s vision, however their vision isn’t selling consoles, nor is their implementation of voice and gesture controls sufficiently robust to be appealing to most people, particularly those who don’t fit into the narrow categories they divided their customers by.

      -Voice commands
      –Have difficulty with deeper voices.
–Are language restricted by region. If you aren’t a native language speaker of the nation you reside in, you’re Boned.
–Are needlessly structured and unintuitive. Requires that you use pre-formatted structure rather than processing user requests intelligently, ala Siri
–Low recognition rate of commands for many people. A controller or remote provides direct, rapid response. Failed voice commands require that the user repeat their command until the xbox hears them correctly and they manage to phrase the command correctly. This is frustrating
–Not a unique feature. The PS4 also offers voice commands, though not as extensively, as does Amazon’s fireTV.

      -Gesture controls
      –Low recognition rate
–Erroneous recognition: can interpret non-command movements as commands.
      –Latency
–Imprecise compared to a controller or remote.

MS may have a vision, but that doesn’t mean that it is a good one, nor that they executed it well. Consumers have spoken rather resoundingly, both by buying a PS4 instead, and by their usage rates of the Kinect. If MS wishes to continue offering voice commands, they should be able to do so, either by adding an option microphone attachment, or an internal microphone. But the Kinect itself is $75 worth of equipment that does not add value to their product.

      • Gamez Rule

I agree. MS pushed unwanted hardware onto gamers that wasn’t even good for the gamer IMO

You guys are STILL going at it?

The problem with Microsoft now after they removed the kinect is proving that the Xbox One is better.. I am sorry but i have a Samsung U series TV with dual processors why would i even consider getting a console that predominately plays games on 792p with max contrast ?? I am sorry that is not my definition of a Next Gen console.. People you aren’t dumb there is no excuse for Microsoft manufacturing a product that is basically obsolete in less than a year.. Next year 4k TV’s will start getting cheaper.. Say whatever you want but my definition of next gen is not 792p there is no excuse for it period..

They have more money than Sony they can pay to develop a better console and they refused to do so.. Instead they gave us a console that plays video’s better than it plays games.. If you prefer the Xbox One fine that’s you pie to eat.. But from a techie stand point the Xbox One is in no way a next gen console bottomline.. you can’t argue your way out of having lackluster hardware.. DDR3 will never be GDDR5.. Not matter how to spin it..

So how is Microsoft going to close the gap.. ??
Here is what they are lacking right now..
    1. No thoughts of backward compatible games ( Splinter Cell conviction ) would be good to play but not even a peep about that
    2. Microsoft has nothing like PS Now which just got announced for PS4 ( software incoming )..
    3. Playstation has more indie support to date..

The biggest reason why i say that Microsoft will not catch up Playstation Now.. They don’t have a vehicle or even plan to launch something like that.. it’s sad that it seems unfair and like i am siding with Sony but i am not these are just things that are known.. I have strong feeling that Microsoft does not know what to do with the Xbox division.. Also the talks about it being sold off is still looming sucks to hear that there are even talks about it..

    Rant over.
