During the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Letter from the Producer Live livestream that is being broadcasted as I write Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida introduced the next major content update 2.3, annuncing its official title and logo “Defenders of Eorzea.

With that we get the first glimpse as its main content, the primal battle against Ramuh, the instanced dungeon Hullbreaker Isle (which will pitch us against the nasty Kraken), and the two hard-mode dungeons Tam-Tara Deepcroft and Stone Vigil. Below you can see the first screenshots, including the very first look at the fearsome Ramuh.

Below you can see a list of the main additions coming with Defenders of Eorzea. And yes, chocobo raising and private rooms will be in.

The ability to purchase Fantasia Potions with real money to fully change one’s appearance was also detailed. Initially we’ll be able to purchase them in account-wide batches of one, three or five, then the ability to purchase specific quantities will be added down the line.

Below you can also see a gallery with a large batch of concept artwork and screenshots for the upcoming section of the Crystal Tower, a new set of armor, dyed artifact armor, new eyewear, a new mount that can carry a passenger (including a wedding version), new poses and the absolutely fantastic concept for the wedding tux and dress. I guess I need to find a lady willing to marry me in game now. Any takers?

separatorFinally, we get the run down of the upcoming events: the release of the seventh tier of several reward, a DLC for Teathrhytm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, and two Letter from the Producer Live at E3 and in Senday in June and July.

aw yisssss. This is one of the game that is on my “Must Get” for the PS4. Good to know more update is coming.

I’d highly recommend the game, it’s just fantastic, and much more accessible than FF XI was.

      • Sucka Free

It’s a pretty good game but FFXI was more fun. They need to expand the classes, make class quests that are associated with those classes, that was one of the things that made XI so awesome. I’m still back and forth with this game, I have it on my PC, have been playing off and on since the 1.0 days. It’s definitely much, much better but there’s still something missing

        • Vashta Nerada

A proper leveling system and the Job system needing to be like FFXI’s are my only problems with it. Everything else I want will likely be added in the future.

Can’t wait to one day get PUP and BLU.

        • Kaelas Dawnstrider

Not sure how much you played but both Classes and Jobs have a significant number of quests associated with each, this includes crafting and gathering classes, not just combat.

          • Sucka Free

yeah, I know. That class progression but I was talking about how in XI you had to perform a quest and when you finish as a reward, the NPC taught you the class skills. It felt more natural and realistic than simply equipping a weapon. Everything about the game made you feel like you were involved in the adventure. Hard to describe. I’m not knocking XIV, its a great game too but XI was special

          • Kaelas Dawnstrider

Ah, I see what you mean. Though for the job quests you do unlock 5 job specific abilities through questing. So there is still some of that in there. I do agree about FFXI being a special game though.

        • JoeDaniel

FFXI more fun? wow I can’t imagine that, FFXI killed me with its insane reliance on getting very little accomplished without a party lol

          • Sucka Free

Yeah, but everyone else needed a party too, it wasn’t hard to get one together. That’s part of the problem with the newer MMO’s, they are becoming single player games with a social network attached

          • JoeDaniel

Maybe you were a lot more dedicated I was. I know my friends that were hardcore players of the game never had a problem because they put in the time to find statics, productive linkshells, etc… I mean i’m the kind of gamer that plays Call of Duty for the campaign so I’m not willing to play a game that feels like a job lol… guess that’s why I liked WoW and now XIV far more :)

          • Sucka Free

Yeah, finding a good linkshell is key, I got lucky there. I remember at first I was close to quitting before I found my linkshell, that made all the difference in the world. Then I could group when ever I wanted and had help getting the chocobo routes and access to the airships so I could get around safely. Considering how low the population is now, I imagine it would be really hard for a new player

  • SkinnyAssGamer

this game is a must have for PlayStation 4 Owners. Something that the Xbox will never get such an amazing MMO. #PlayStationMasterRace ;)

    • dranzer1

You felt the need to bring xbox one in because..?

      • JoeDaniel

because we’re telling people how great of an experience this game is :)

        • Surgeon of Death

You can play it on PC too tho.

          • SkinnyAssGamer

and yet its still not on Xbox One… #Dealwithit

          • Surgeon of Death

No need to bash em for it tho. Completely irreverent to PS4 owners(Such as myself) gaming experieces. #SillyFanboyism

          • Invisbin

I didn’t see any bashing. Microsoft claims it’s gonna be pwn but can’t get ffxiv on it’s console. Smh I say.

          • Surgeon of Death

            Listen to yourself man :(

          • Sucka Free

Don’t bother, you can’t get through to these people. Some people have to bring their console war into everything. What can you do?

          • christopher witherspoon

its the truth Microsoft keeps making jabs towards sony about there rpgs an mmos are better so you cant except for sony fans to not say anything back I have both systems but in preference to rpgs I have to choose sony

          • JoeDaniel

it’s their own guidelines that prevent it, Square won’t release the game on a console that doesn’t support cross-platform play.

          • JoeDaniel

we know, apparently some people just brag about the systems they own lol

  • Forest Law

Square… WHERE IS MY NINJA AND SAMURAI CLASS?

    • Vashta Nerada

Ninja should be coming in the upcoming expansion. I believe it has been hinted at in the patch stories. Samurai has not been hinted at yet that I know of, but Yoshi-P knows that we want SAM.

      • Forest Law

He will definitely deliver, it’s just a matter of patience. I can wait, this game is my idea of a perfect MMO.
