This week Mario Kart 8 claims the number one spot again, with Yokai Watch (unsurprisingly) in second place. PersonaQ: Shadow of the Labyrinth takes the third spot, with the title being one of Atlus’s best selling second-week games as demonstrated in the chart below (source: Famitsu):

[PS1] Persona {1996.09.20} – 62.661 / 263.808 (-69%)
[PSP] Persona 3 Portable {2009.11.01} – 43.720 / 152.063 (-60%)
[PS1] Persona 2: Innocent Sin {1999.06.24} – 37.500 / 208.077 (-78%)
[PS2] Persona 4 {2008.07.10} – 35.301 / 247.268 (-83%)
[PS2] Persona 3 {2006.07.13} – 32.268 / 159.740 (-75%)
[3DS] Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth {2014.06.05} – 31.166 / 217.564 (-83%)
[PS1] Persona 2: Eternal Punishment {2000.06.29} – 19.607 / 139.090 (-84%)
[PS Vita] Persona 4 Golden {2012.06.14} – 18.069 / 170.568 (-88%)
[3DS] Shin Megami Tensei IV {2013.05.23} – 28.499 / 213.310 (-85%)

One Piece: Unlimited World RED debuted with poor sales and Thief managed to snag seventh, eighth and tenth place with just under 10,000 units sold on the best-selling version. Overall the software numbers are pretty low in Japan.

On the hardware side, 3DS is still in the number one spot with a little less than 30,000 total units sold. Number is the PS Vita, followed by Wii U (it’s interesting to note a slight discrepancy between Media Create and Famitsu’s numbers). In regards to the Wii U, it looks like the effects of Mario Kart 8 on the system is finally petering out. PS4 sales are still low — not surprising since there’s very little on the system that would appeal to a Japanese audience.
