Sony Computer Entertainment just released its own comment on the latest North American NPD figures that saw the PS4 beat its rival, the Xbox One, for a margin that was probably quite a lot narrower than in the previous months due to a strong June for Microsoft’s console.
PlayStation Brand Marketing Senior Vice President Guy Longworth shared the company’s celebratory statement, the content of which were shared by Cnet Editor Ian Sherr.
We now have a comment from Sony, who says PS4 was #1 in sales (for US) for sixth consecutive month, and remains cumulative leader.
Sony also says it was the top console for next gen titles, including Watch_Dogs, UFC, FIFA 14. #NPD
Longworth himself also responded to a tweet by Gametrailers host Geoff Keighley, mentioning that Sony is simply trying to bring the best games to its fans.
“@geoffkeighley: PS4 was #1 in sales for June per @LuckyLongworth” just trying to bring best games to our fans..
Looks like Sony still managed to come up on top, despite the fact that Microsoft doubled sales of the Xbox One in June.
Unfortunately we have no way to know just how close the two consoles were at the end of the June race, since neither Sony nor Microsoft provided any hard numbers for their sales.
