Guerrilla Games’ New PS4 Game to Include Animals/Creatures with “Real-Time Animalistic Movement”

Very little is known about the Guerrilla Games’ unannounced PS4 game, even if there are widespread rumors about its nature as an open world RPG. Today we might be able to add another piece to the puzzle.

The prominent Sony first party studio just published a career opportunity ad seeking a Senior Creature Animator that definitely fits the bill.

Description

Guerrilla is looking for a senior in-game creature animator with extensive experience animating animal movement and behavior. As the successful candidate, you will create real-time animalistic movement with a focus on quality and realism, while co-operating with game designers and programmers to fulfill tasks according to the production plan.

Requirements

  • We want to hear from you if:
  • You have at least 5 years of industry experience
  • You possess excellent working knowledge of Maya
  • You have an excellent portfolio showing off realistic animations of creatures large and small (mammals, birds, reptiles, etc.)
  • You’re able to create and iterate hand keyed animation quickly
  • You possess strong communication skills
  • You knowledgeable about game development processes
  • You’re willing to accept and provide direction, work well under pressure, and able to handle multiple tasks
  • You’re self-motivated and work well in a team

While I’m quite tempted to throw in a “Killzone dog confirmed!” joke, this ad is definitely compatible with the insider rumors that describe the game as including a red-headed female progatonist, robot dinosaurs, lush environments and other exotic creatures.

A title set in that kind of environment, possibly including jungles and similar areas, will definitely need plenty of mammals, birds, reptiles and other “creatures large and small” featuring realistic animalistic animation.

Of course this should be considered a rumor and taken with a grain of salt until an announcement by Guerrilla or Sony is made, but Sony’s press conference at Gamescom is less than a couple weeks away, and it’ll definitely be interesting to see if we’ll get a glimpse on the new game then.

So many interesting rumors for this new game, I really can’t wait to finally see it. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too much longer for a reveal.

    that’s a lot

    • Jecht_Sin

They are looking for a senior…

  • Boerewors

Bet these studios are just trolling all of the time with ridiculous ads, I know I would:
We’re looking for a veteran art-designer for our new hack ‘n slash first person RPG, where time can be manipulated. A pre existing love for clowns, cats and birthday cakes are an absolute requirement.
And then end up making a twin stick shooter. It would sure as hell keeps all these gamesites busy.

    • SkinnyAssGamer

great job making yourself look foolish. looks more like your the one trolling over Guerrilla or anyone else.

      • Boerewors

Did you even read my comment or is English not your native tongue?
I said that if I were a developer, I’d post these job ads all the time with the most strange and exotic requirements, so that sites like DS would speculate over completely foolish stuff that only we as a dev team know is false.
Where are you from, maybe I can try it in your language if necessary. It might not be funny or anything, but to me it was… But it hasn’t got anything to do with trolling.

        • SkinnyAssGamer

yeah because these requirements are really exotic *Rolls Eyes* yeah go back to your little cave troll.

          • Boerewors

Yikes! This is unbelievable! I am not commenting at guerrillas ad AT ALL.. Just read the reply I was kind enough to send you… If I (!) was a developer (which I’m clearly not), then I would (so that’s me, not Guerilla) put up ads for designers/programmers with totally false information and asking for weird requirements just to confuse the gaming press (so it would be fake ads). The concept, before you totally ruined it, is that no matter what you put in the ad, gaming sites will pick it up and speculate about it…
So there’s no actual trolling from my or guerrilla’s side, but I would troll gaming journalists if I were in Guerilla’s shoes every now and then.
Please tell me you finally get it. You clearly won’t think it’s funny, but please tell me you at least get what I was trying to say… Twice

          • SkinnyAssGamer

I guess. But Guerrilla Games isn’t trolling us. Game Developers have a job to be serious not joke around with us.

          • Sucka Free

And apparently it’s your job to take everything seriously…except when you are trolling other people

          • SkinnyAssGamer

were you even apart of this discussion? no you weren’t, this was between me and him. Not you.

          • Sucka Free

Would be if you were in a private forum. Unfortunately we are all exposed to your stupidity

          • SkinnyAssGamer

why you do have to be so mean? Were all on the same side aren’t we? We all support Sony? Why do you have to be a Jack*** too me :( why can’t we all get along.

          • Sucka Free

because you make us look bad

          • SkinnyAssGamer

how do i make you guys look bad? i’ll stop all you have to do is ask

          • Sucka Free

It’s not my responsibility to teach you how to behave. If you can’t understand how unacceptable you act then anything that I could say would be lost on you anyway.

          • SkinnyAssGamer

and how do you know it will be lost on me?

          • Sucka Free

because you shouldn’t need to be told in the first place. This should not be news to you. anyway, stop wasting my time with this dumb act. You know perfectly well what I’m talking about

          • SkinnyAssGamer

what am i doing that is so bad? maybe if you tell me. Maybe i will get a better understanding what i am doing bad. If your not going to tell me i guess your just another hater/troll.

          • Sucka Free

Just shows that you can be attacked for anything. I thought the concept was pretty funny

          • Boerewors

Was my second attempt at being funny this week, failed miserably twice. I’d better not quit my dayjob just yet!

          • Sucka Free

It’s not you, I thought it was pretty clever. Still, it’ probably too soon to be thinking of taking your act on tour 😛

          • Boerewors

The problem with the internet nowadays is that lots of people don’t actually read comments others make. They “scan” the comment and if they think they don’t agree or don’t understand someone’s trying to be funny, they just lash out. When someone pisses me of, I always read the unsettling comment twice, so I can be absolutely positive I’m not wrong.
Like Skinny for instance, there must be a moment where he thinks: oh dang, I totally did not read his comment properly or I’m not smart enough to understand what’s going on. But instead of backing down, these guys usually shift or second gear and go all out… Cause at the end of the day you can always claim it was YOU who was the joker.
Ah well, at least this time people didn’t wish for me to die a horrible death like with my last failed attempt at a joke…so that tour might be not as far off as you think 😉

    • Sucka Free

Experience rendering sno-cones in real-time an absolute must..

  • The Real Rick Grimes

I’m just imagining a current-gen Turok!!! Obviously, it’s not but something like it would be awesome.

  • Sexy Mcgee

The more I hear about this game the more I think of Far Cry.

  • Vrasku

I just pray its something without “killzone” in its name. This is still the only game where i didnt finish the single player and never touched multi player. maybe i should try the multi some time.

    • SkinnyAssGamer

its a completely New IP too be more specific its an Open World RPG. No need to worry about that.

  • feinguy

Considering the visuals Guerrilla accomplished with their ‘first gen’ effort on KZSF, I can not fathom how amazing this 2nd gen effort will look!
    Show us something! Pretty please?

  • WingsOfChicken

GG said they gave Sony a trailer for the game. it’s not a waiting game for it. Gamescom?

  • SkinnyAssGamer

I expect nothing less from Guerrilla Games. a very talented european studio. Aside from that i hope this game has a lot of Moral Choices, a lot of different places i can visit, and big ass world for me to explore. Customizable weapons, clothing, etc. I want the Character Creation to be very detailed, etc. Since they said it is a Open World RPG i hope they have all of that as well as some complex combat too involve strategy when you fight enemies or whatever. 😀 That last part may not happen but still would be nice to have.

    • Jeff Maxwell

I hope its got a lot of morale choices to, might actually learn you something!

  • Sucka Free

Hmm, animals? Hoping it’s not some kind of safari game. Have zero interest in a Ted Nugent sim
