Watch the New Ninja Job Fighting in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – She Looks Absolutely Badass

Square Enix is going to release the new rogue/ninja class/job combination on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn with patch 2.4, and during a 14 hour-long anniversary broadcast currently being aired Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida gave a glimpse on how the Ninja looks while he (she actually, at least in this video) fights.

You can check out the recording below. The animations look absolutely fantastic, and the way the Ninja darts around and teleports to the target is nothing short of badass.

Unfortunately we still don’t have a release date for patch 2.4, and we’ll still get 2.38 before that, but it really can’t come soon enough.

You and every other player. After a year, players have found what class/job they enjoy and what they don’t. Most have maxed all classes (aside from a handful of DoH/DoL), at least on Ragnarok, so it will be interesting to see how well progression goes with a few thousand Rogues all scrambling to 50 at the same time. I would love it if this eventually branched off into the Dancer job. As lame as it sounded in FFXI when it was announced, that was probably the most fun I ever had with a job class in any MMORPG.

        i never played FF XI
how’s the blue mage works there? I really like how Blue Mage works, Quitis and Quina were both my fav char to use in combat.

Oh, well… this could take a while lol. FFXI is a completely different species in that the job system is incredibly vast. When you reach level 18 you can get what are called subjobs, which will always be half the level of your main job. So if you are a level 40 Black Mage and you sub White Mage to it, it will only be at level 20. This is still a great feature, though. When you reach level 30, you can unlock advanced jobs. Blue Mage in FFXI requires the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expac and once you unlock it through a pretty easy, but dangerous quest, you’ll have a shiny new level 1 Blue Mage. It can be a bit of a trial and error situation because in order to learn new spells, a mob has to use it on you. Certain spells have skill boosts, some have stat boosts, some combinations give you passive abilities, like regen or refresh. You can only use a finite amount of spells at one time, but you can learn a ton of them. If you were to also have the Ninja advanced job unlocked, you can use it a subjob to blue Mage and with the ability to dual wield swords and cast potent spells, Blue Mage (at higher levels) is a wrecking ball. My friend played as a Blue Mage/Ninja and I played as a Dancer/Thief and between the two of us, we could take on things that used to take entire groups to take down, so the jobs are pretty powerful. You can check out all the class related skills at: And while it is now a decade old game that resembles little of what it was a few years ago, it’s still a great title with so much content. Seriously, if you ever happen to see the full game on Steam on sale, a free month of play is worth the price just to check it out. Plus a PS2 style controller is the default control scheme, so it plays more like a console game.

I can’t wait to see the high level Ninja gear. Alongside the Samurai this is going to be the coolest looking class to gear up, I think. I guess you can already look like a Samurai though. Also, it’s awesome to see the Rogue has tattoos on certain gear. I wish we had body tattoos as a customisation option rather than just face tattoos. The only body tattoo I know of right now is the South Seas Talisman and that costs like 2 million Gil on the markets in my server and I need that money to level >:(
