PS4 Exclusive Deep Down’s Beta Test Delayed to 2015 as Capcom Apologizes

by on August 29, 2014 1:21 AM 51

Today Capcom released a rather amazing gameplay video of the upcoming PS4 exclusive Deep Down, demonstrating that the game is coming along definitely nicely, but unfortunately not all the news are good.

Through the title’s Producer Kazunori Sugiura. the publisher announced that the public beta test for the game has been delayed to 2015 (in Japan, as there still aren’t any news about a western localization) in order to deliver the best possible experience, also apologizing to the fans that have been waiting since the unveiling show of the PS4.

The announcement about the beta, which was scheduled for the Summer, had been promised and then delayed multiple times, the latest at the end of July. At least now we know that we’ll have to wait for next year in order to get our greedy paws on the game.

As usual, better later than never, or worse, than a rushed release.

    Here we go…

    S.O.B -_-

  • TheLastGuardian

Yesssssssss. Capcom should also right the ship by making it a $60 title. Free to play won’t cut it on the AAA space. Capcom DO IT, release either in April or June (around E3) 2015. My guess is they were going to release a limited content game and add DLC (rooms and stuff) as they go.

    • doplerradar

Sadly it looks like a E3 release date won’t happen. The beta is coming in 2015, and we don’t know exactly when that would be. For all we know the beta could be out in January or it could be out during E3 or even later. Plus we don’t know when this game is coming to the west which I think will be very important for this game to succeed.

    • Porcu Peth

      no. F2P is fine.

  • doplerradar

Well this is either a good or bad thing. Sad that there is no word if/when this game will be western localized.

  • Homer Ruglia Beoulve

Capcom, tread lightly. You don’t need to rush this.

  • superkarma

What’s that…the 5th delay for the beta? Here’s an idea…stop talking about the beta until you know for sure when you can release it.

    • Swordy

Whoa..whoa..that would make too much sense then

    • Dikan45

      Amen to that

    • Anarky

Yeah it’s stupid just how many delays they’ve had so far.

    • Aquadysseus

This. Developers need to stop doing this already, it’s doing nothing but making fans worry and that is not a good thing. Just announce a date when it’s ready for crying out loud T_T

  • You are flat out wrong

    Crapcom.

  • ssjenforcer191191191 .

this game is quickly becoming the next The Last Guardian.

companies should really stop shooting themselves in the foot by releasing info about games way too early,

    • Dimitri Theodosakis

Can’t say that until Deep Downs Announcement hits 5 years

    • Giuseppe Nelva

I wish we had seen of The Last Guardian as much as we have of Deep Down, honestly.

  • articuzwolf

too busy suing other company for petty things eh capcom?

  • Spectre_Status

This game has potential to be a solid AAA title for the PS4, it just seems like Capcom is just doing everything in their power to f*ck it up, F2P? no western release? like come on, get it together

  • Gaikai

A game like this takes time to develope hope they take their time to optimize the game better and make it work properly without any bugs

  • James

If it makes it a better game then so be it.

I’ll tell ya something though, 2015 shaping up to be a good year to game.

    • NinoBr0wn

Yea that’s what we all said about this year. I won’t say shit else until these games are on my disk.

      • Craig Sloan

October/November still is and a little game in September called Destiny also. The year is not over.

        • NinoBr0wn

My year is pretty much over. Batman, The Witcher, The Order, The Division.. Literally every game I was waiting on got delayed.

          • Craig Sloan

Same man I know but I’m now playing Metro Redux for the first time, I have Destiny. Dragon age, Fifa and Driveclub pre ordered and I might pick up Far Cry and or Shadow of Mordor. There are still good games coming. Even AC but I don’t like AC same with COD.

          • NinoBr0wn

I thought Dragon Age was delayed too. Might pick that up. I’m gonna play the PS+ edition of Drive club before I decide what racer to get. The graphics are amazing, but I want to try out the gameplay.

          • Craig Sloan

Dragon age was delayed but only from October to November.

          • NinoBr0wn

            Oh ok thanks.

          • mattc2310

            No Destiny or Far Cry?

          • NinoBr0wn

Yea I’m getting Destiny. Haven’t decided yet on Far Cry. Just pretty annoyed that besides Destiny, everything I was really looking forward to isn’t coming out.

    • Human@Play

Couldn’t agree more, though a part of me feels a little cheated by SONY with all these delays. It’s almost as if they never intended to release anything this year. But on a brighter note, it is definitely going to be a crazy wallet busting 2015.

      • James

I don’t think Sony intentionally cheated us, they just created deadlines that pushed their devs too far.

Apparently, games are taking a lot longer to develop for due to consumer demanding 1080P and 60FPS experiences which require a ton more optimisation which obviously takes time.

But yeah, I’m totally cool with it myself. Just a case of building momentum and once that momentum there… They’ll be triple A titles launching practically every month with tons of smaller titles launching around it.

It’s same with every platform for the first year or so.

        • Human@Play

          Early adoption syndrome…

      • Giuseppe Nelva

Only, this game isn’t developed or published by Sony… or “SONY.”

        • Human@Play

True, I stand corrected… *slithers back into the shadows*

      • demfax

Many AAA retail games have been delayed so far not just Driveclub and The Order.

  • SkinnyAssGamer

thats fine. just make the best game you can possibly make, i’m ok with some delays so long the end product is finished, complete and awseome. Just take your time, and make it great :)

    • Swinny UK

You sound exactly how I sounded the last 5 times this game was delayed…..
      ARGH!

  • JustGaming

after seeing THAT video, I couldn’t give a s***. F2P, retail release, whatever you do just make sure it’s a good game.

Next Last Guardian, Delaystation, #nogames, Paupers, Ponies….. There, that’s out the way for you all. Now please go back and watch the 1080p video of this gorgeous looking game.

  • devilmaycry0917

i had no interest in this game since it was announced to be a F2P so delay or not doesnt matter whatsoever

  • Jimmy DoneGood

Greatness waits and waits yet again. lol

    • You are flat out wrong

More AAAs on the PS4 than the Xbone.

When’s your next game? Halo ports? lololololol. Don’t worry, maybe they’ll make a few more apps in the meantime.

      • CrusaderForever No Regret

So funny how these Xbots constantly shoot themselves in the foot.

PS4 has many great games that gamers love. That’s why it’s 10+ million in sales and growing. Sony’s large number of well funded 1st parties will ensure PS4 has a ton of great AAA exclusives, as many or more than PS3.

PS4/Sony exclusives Jun-Dec: The Last of Us Remastered, Driveclub, LittleBigPlanet 3, Infamous: First Light, Samurai Warriors 4, Natural Doctrine, Guilty Gear Xrd, Singstar, and lots of indies (Resogun DLC, Counterspy, Hohokum, Velocity 2X, etc.).

PS4/Sony exclusives 2015 (announced): Bloodborne, The Order, Ratchet & Clank Remastered, Uncharted 4, Let It Die, Deep Down, and lots of indies.

PS4 has 35+ AAA games from July to December 2014. Most of those are multiplatform but there’s no shortage of AAA games for PS4 owners.

PS4 games rated 73+ on Metacritic not on XB1: Final Fantasy XIV, Resogun, Transistor, MLB 14, Injustice, Trine 2: Complete Story, TowerFall Ascension, Infamous 2nd Son, Don’t Starve, flower, War Thunder, DC Universe Online, Dead Nation, Dynasty Warriors 8, MotoGP 14, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, TLOU Remastered, The Swapper, Stick It To The Man, ZEN Pinball 2, Star Wars Pinball, The Pinball Arcade, Pure Pool, Fez, Rogue Legacy, Sound Shapes, Sportsfriends, PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate, SteamWorld Dig, Awesomenauts Assemble, Titan Attacks, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Escape Plan, Outlast: Whistleblower, Hohokum.

1st/2nd party studios include Japan Studio, Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, SCE Bend, SCE San Diego, SCE Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Pixel Opus, Evolution Studios, Guerrilla Games, Guerrilla Cambridge, SCE London, Media Molecule, Ready at Dawn, Quantic Dream, etc.

Sony’s largest 1st party studios like Naughty Dog, Guerilla Games, and Santa Monica are working on unrevealed AAA games. Expect big 1st party AAA reveals in the future. Sony’s 1st parties are well funded and the games division is making a profit.

Sony showed the following games at Gamescom 2014:

Sony exclusives: The Tomorrow Children, Until Dawn, Tearaway Unfolded, Alienation, WiLD, Rime, DriveClub, The Order: 1886, Bloodborne, LittleBigPlanet 3

Timed console exclusives: Dreamfall Chapters, HellBlade, The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter, Volume, HollowPoint, Runemaster, Nom Nom Galaxy, Pix the Cat, Papers Please, In Space We Brawl, Ether One, Qube 2, Snow

Multiplatform games: Silent Hills (P.T. playable teaser), FarCry 4, Destiny, Shadow Of Mordor

PS4 has a steady stream of games all year. According to Listwar it’s now 100 PS4 games to 59 XB1 games. The fact is PS4 has nearly twice as many games as XB1, and many of those are rated 73+ on Metacritic.

    • DemonFenton

Must be bored of your Xbox One to post.

  • Natan Cifuentes

It’s a shame but now I feel like supporting them more. It may be a business tactic, but honesty towards consumers is never a bad idea.

  • HustyparmenCZ

:D this is getting ridiculous , are they just waiting for more PS4 s on the market? 5mil was not enough, 10mil is not enough..maby 15, 20mil?

    • Creed

Or maybe the game just isn’t ready.

  • PrinceHeir

No need to rush this, but man Capcom should have prepared everything before announcing it :P

  • CrusaderForever No Regret

What are you going to do? We just have to wait for this promising title. I really think these game companies are announcing their games WAY to early. Great trailer though.

  • Averix

I think they should stop showing things for this game until it at least enters beta. I’m sick of new screens and videos that show “progress” when it’s obvious they don’t have their act together on this one. I hope the end product is fantastic, but Capcom shut up about it until you have something to deliver. Enough pre-launch-post-promise hype.

  • Swinny UK

Awww for Gods sake! I keep waiting and waiting and waiting, Capcom, pro tip- DO NOT release this at the same time as Bloodborne, not even in Beta form.
Funny how Bloodborne has only just been announced and we’re closer to the release date for that game than Deep Down.
