Original Assassin’s Creed Had a Bug Revealing Unfinished Multiplayer Mode

During a conference held at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris, that DualShockers attended, Former Ubisoft Technology Director Julien Merceron shared an interesting anecdote about the very first Assassin’s Creed game.

According to Merceron, the first game initially was supposed to have a multiplayer mode. In fact there was a bug: while he doesn’t know when it was patched, at some point, if a second controller was plugged into the console, a second assassin would appear on screen.

The team didn’t even test those features as they thought they were disabled, and that’s how the bug appeared.

Considering that multiplayer has been completely removed from the latest installment of the series, this is certainly interesting, even if I personally feel that the single player experience is basically all that matters in Assassin’s Creed games.

The Video Game masterclass event in Paris was organized by Jeux Vidéo Magazine and Cité des Sciences.

    An split-screen AC is must-buy.

I enjoyed the online modes except for unity.

So this was quite clearly a straight up coop mode? I wonder why they haven’t done anything like this for the past 7 games then? I think an actual coop experience would be really great, and if it were to work in any AC game it would’ve been perfect in Syndicate. Ah well.

Assassin’s creed PvP multilayer modes were some of the most original and innovative ones on the market. So I was really sad to see them omit it in Unity and then forego any MP in Syndicate.
    Bring PvP back.
