Shu Yoshida: In 2016 You’ll Think “it’s Good to Have a PS4;” Unprecedented Rush of Big Games Coming

While the PS4 had quite a few great games in 2015, it’s obvious that Sony relied a lot on third parties, with 2016 as a target for many of its most hard-hitting exclusives. SCE Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida promised that we have a lot to look forward to on 4Gamer.

“2016 marks an unprecedented rush of big titles for PS4. It’s also the year of the long-awaited launch of PlayStation VR. It’s the year PS4 users, and those who are on the fence on whether to buy it will absolutely think “it’s good to have a PS4.” Please look forward to it.”

Interestingly, Yoshida-san also indicated Yoshihito Kondo from Oculus Japan as as a person who drew his attention in 2015. He’s the creator of Miku Miku Akushu (a software that lets you shake the hand of Hatsune Miku in virtual reality, including a prosthetic hand that you can actually hold), and they met at several virtual reality industry events.

According to Yoshida-san, the VR industry is a small community. Everyone knows everyone else, and it’s exceptional fun to meet people with genuine enthusiasm for the technology. He hopes to have a great 2016 with everyone, and to stimulate each other’s creativity in the future.

Personally, I’m definitely looking forward to titles like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Horizon: Zero Dawn, The Last Guardian, Persona 5 and more. I’ve also been sold on PlayStation VR since trying Guerrilla Games’ RIGS.

Hopefully the headset will be affordable, and most of the games announced for 2016 will actually make it, but the outlook is definitely quite positive for a great gaming year.
