Sony’s CEO Kaz Hirai Promises New, Better and More Exciting Gaming Experiences with PS4

During Sony’s press conference at CES 2016, CEO Kazuo Hirai talked about the PlayStation 4, definiting it a benchmark in terms of collaboration, engineering creativity, artistry and experiential design, promising better and more exciting gaming experiences.

Sony’s innovation has inspired the creativity of enthusiasts, gamers, developers, and publishers, who are devoted to the PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 4 is the embodiment of those things that e value as an organization: powerful technology, advancement ahead of the curve… PlayStation 4 has built a very passionate community.

Of course, we are in constant dialog with that community, listening to their ideas, and responding to them with new, better and more exciting gaming experiences. And we’re thrilled to see just how effectively PS4 has encouraged sharing, created a dynamic portal to games and entertainment, and immersed gamers in compelling narrative experiences.

PlayStation 4 sets a benchmark for our organization in terms of collaboration, of engineering, creativity, artistry and also experiential design.

Hirai-san also mentioned that with the latest  sales figures released today, there is one slot machine for every citizen in Las Vegas, and that’s “a whole lot of gaming,” but there are 59 PS4 units for every person in the city, and “that is seriously a lot of gaming.”

Lastly, Hirai-san explained that among other things, the PS4 and its many features and technology reinforce his belief that Sony can be “a playground where technology meets creativity.”

Better gaming experience. Stop going down so often

    • Hazell

Live has gone down more often this generation than PSN, but nice try.

      • bardock5151

What does Xbox Live have to do with his comment?

        • Davis Arend

The original comment got deleted, so it made sense, now of course looks out of place.

        • Hazell

One could tell he was just trying to stir up some sh*t.

    • Senpai Gundam

“Often” doesn’t mean what you think it means.

      • Daniel Gonzalez

Who was the user? Got so many lame trolls these days.

        • Senpai Gundam

I can’t remember their username, but I’ll know ’em the next time they pop up (unless they change their name).

  • Senpai Gundam

Considering this year’s lineup, it’s hard not to believe him.

“Sony’s CEO Kaz Hirai Promises New, Better and More Exciting Gaming Experiences with PS4”

And Microsoft CEO Phil Spencer now promises to also put all their Xbox One exclusives on PC, because what he is not telling you is that the Xbox One console sales have been a dismal failure, with a weak software attach rate. They need to make up their software losses FASTER.

The truth shall set your asses free, and regardless of how Phil will try to spin it, you heard it here first.

    • Giuseppe Nelva

It almost seems like letting more people play your games is a bad thing.

PS: your trolling, trying to attack a console in basically every post, even when that console isn’t involved at all, has put you right on the verge on a permanent ban. I suggest taking this as your last warning.

      • Doggystyle

It is a bad thing for your console when it is trying to play catch up to the front runner. And actually, it was my very first warning. But thanks just the same.

      • Bebop

although i dont think more people playing is a bad thing…making the console less and less Necessary for the games is kind of bad imo. I think the X1 needs more actual exclusives so you dont have people who already own ps4 and a pc, saying”ill just get it on pc” Exclusives are a good thing they made the console have value and a uniqueness to it. I think X1 has some dope games but they are lacking in True actual exclusives

        • Doggystyle

Stop making sense. Common sense, and having an outspoken opinion will get you banned around here.

          • Bebop

lol, I just like to express how i think exclusives are more important than people seem to think. If you have 2 consoles doing the exact same thing…but one performs better then the other, what else is there if exclusives dont differentiate the two? its redundant

          • Doggystyle

BOOOM!!!! Making sense again after being warned against making sense!!!

          • Bebop

            LOL

          • MindBodySoul

            Price.

          • Bebop

then why is the more expensive console still outselling the cheaper one with Bundles? I’m not about to get in some kind of console argument since i like both but theres more to it then just price. especially to all of us here that are very interested in games

      • Sexy Mcgee

Him being a troll or not aside. It’s not a bad thing for the player but it is indicative of the state of their business. The reality is they wouldn’t be making so many concessions if the Xbox One was the runaway success they were hoping it would be.
My bet, start hearing rumors of Xbox Too development by early next year with the latest release date being holiday 2018.

        • Doggystyle

Ooops!!! More sense! Youre on the verge, buddy!!!

        • Bebop

i actually think Xbox might be slipping more into pc gaming as a whole…My sis in law works at microsoft and has expressed that they are not very happy with how xbox has been performing…that initial cost at the beginning was really bad and this lead is completely different then last gens…The use of windows 10 and such being cross play between x1 and pc and all their games going to pc seems to look like they are trying to slip out of the game opposed to continue further

          • Doggystyle

The writing is on the wall. That’s why they won’t report any sales numbers this gen. They are embarrassed.

          • Bebop

its unfortunate honestly, i like competition it seems like MS doesnt want to develop their own games / have their studios focusing on some of there older its like Phantom Dust, or Rare doing a new Conker( This is almost retarded that they wont use Rare’s IP…they could make Perfect Dark their answer to Uncharted/MGS…) but hey…i think too much

          • Ian Henry

Huh! Yo, dude… your not thinking too much, you’re actually 100% right.
I mean Microsoft has an healthy lineup of exclusives this year such as Gear Of War 4, Scalebound, Quantum Break, Recore, Halo Wars 2, Killer Instinct Season 3, and Sea Of Thieves but honestly I don’t see them put much effort on their 1st Party front
and Perfect Dar could’ve definitely made good competition against Uncharted and MGS. What I’m trying to say is they have always relied on 3rd party games with the exception of Halo, Gears Of War, and Forza.
In the end, I hope Phil Spencer stays to true to his word about his focus on First Party.

          • Bebop

Yea, I’d like to see Xbox get more fresh new ips and some solid exclusives, not being put on PC as well eliminating the need for the Xbox. Scalebound sounds dope as hell. And Recore could be really cool . the man behind Meyroid prime is workin on it and I love that game. In the end I think it comes down to one question…why own said console? And if it isn’t answered with “for the games” then something is wrong because its a Video GAME console lol…

          • TC0072

100% this is the way it’s going. They are losing ground to companies like Apple and Google in the desktop market thanks to their complete failure in the mobile market.

Forcing people to buy PCs running windows to play their exclusive games is their next plan.

Main evidence of this is the number of Xbox exclusives which are now coming to Wndows as well.

          • miyamoto

I feel that is really true. XB1 Kinect 2.0 Cable companies TV Stations those were guge capitalizations and I dont think they are able to get them back.

        • drjonesjnr

          Totally agree with This post

  • Morokish

still cant believe he didnt talk about PSVR.

    • Giuseppe Nelva

Same. There’s still a chance that something will be announced tomorrow outside of the conference, I guess.

      • StarTheory

That will be pretty dumb, this conference of them was boring and they pretty much talked about the same stuff they did last year, should have used Morpheus to bring something new.

        • Giuseppe Nelva

You mean dumb like not even mentioning PS VR in a conference that had the headset displayed on the front of its own website? or worse?

At this point, nothing would surprise me.

    • asch999

Yea, i though Sony will announce release date or price at CES.

  • criperro

Sony should learn more how to do their CES Conference, they should learn from what PS has been doing this years in E3.

    • zero

Didn’t quite catch the stream, what happened in that part?

      • StarTheory

I don’t really remember what he said but he brought this up

      • Ani X

He mentioned that there were not only success in the recent history of Sony. The background has shown some social media memes.

I’ve thought that was quite funny. How many companies do this during a press conference?

    • Sadaharu

Lol “CEO Kaz Hirai” is this account actually ran by Kaz? 😛

      • Ani X

I wouldn’t be shocked, if it was his alter ego, just to get off some steam. But I think he just follows the account, it’s a lot of fun after all.

      • Kasual7

        That’s a parody account.

        • Sadaharu

          I know.

      • miyamoto

He is the only gaming CEO that knows how to have fun.

    • Negi Springfield

      IS THIS REAL?! LOL!

  • tom

one question, where is PSVR CEO Hirai? ^^

  • zero

Must be hard to be his speech writer, coming up with a lot words that sound dandy but mean nothing.

    • YU GI OH S5 ComingAmerica 2016

      Yu-Gi-Ho is better coming 2016

  • superkarma

All I want is a proper games folder (if that’s not coming, then at least give us the ability to hide/rearrange tiles freely) and custom backgrounds. Hopefully 2016 is the year for that.

    • Zatekuyo

Did you vote for that in a servey last year? And yeah i too would like a folder to rename freely to as you say hide and rearrange and a custom background we can make on our own.

      • superkarma

Yup, I vote for those 2 things every chance I get. I really just want all-around dashboard customization — custom folders, ability to hide/rearrange tiles, custom backgrounds, etc. Appearing offline would be nice too, but for me, I’d much rather the priority be set on dashboard customization.

  • 49ers fan

the only thing that is gonna make it better is if they remove online gaming from the paywall and make it free…

    • StarTsurugi

Dude… it makes too much money.

      • 49ers fan

its not like i am asking them to shutdown ps+, i am only asking them to make it optional like it is on the ps3 and psvita..

        • StarTsurugi

Needing it to play online, probably doubled the amount of subscribers, so while I welcome the sentiment, they just won’t cut off that source of revenue.

          • 49ers fan

what about actually living up to their own slogan for once and be ‘for the players’ as they say instead of being greedy… or is it just that ps+ is crap and when they make it optional no one will want to pay for it?.

          • StarTsurugi

Pretty much. I never got it, until I needed to.

          • drjonesjnr

Get on to Microsoft then they made paying for online the norm they did it from the start

        • Carl

It is optional. You don’t have to pay for PS Plus to play games on your PS4. You just won’t be able to play online. Except for free to play games like Warframe which don’t require a PS Plus subscription at all.

          • 49ers fan

yeah sure, i buy a 60 dollar game and half of the game is the online multiplayer. so lets say i buy cod:blackops3, now i have payed my 60 dollar for the product. when i come home i must pay extra fees to access fully what i already payed for… but of course you dont understand the dilemma. since you clearly is either thick in the heads or a brain washed sony fanboy.

          • Carl

You know, there are many more games out there than just Call of Duty or any online multiplayer game… MGS V, Fallout 4, The Witcher 3, and others, all of them are single player experiences. If you only want Call of Duty and online multiplayer, that’s your problem.

          • 49ers fan

so you mean i should just stick to single player games then and narrowing my gaming options… and by the way there is single player games now that you must be online to get benefits, like mgs5,madmax,just cause3 etc and games that are always online like starwars battlefront, destiny with no single player options at all.. so this its starting to become your problem too. but for godsake keep on defending sonys greed like an idiot. i dont bend over like an idiot, and just accept things like this. sony says they are ‘for the players’ then they damn well should act like it.. but its all lies as usually.
