GameStop Removes PC Logo From Final Fantasy XV Ad; Square Enix Clarifies that it Was a Mistake

on March 31, 2016 4:35 PM

Yesterday rumors have spread about a PC version of Final Fantasy XV currently in development due to the appearance of a PC logo on an advertisement published by GameStop on its front page.

Today the logo has been removed, as you can see from the before and after shots at the bottom of the post.

We did not report on the rumor, simply because we considered the theory pretty ridiculous, considering that Square Enix had just hosted a two-hour long show and not a single mention of a PC version was made.

Instead, we reached out to Square Enix, and we just received confirmation that the inclusion of the logo was indeed a mistake:

“The PC version posting was made in error.

We have no announcements related to its availability.”

This isn’t excessively surprising, considering that this kind of ads are created by using pre-made templates, and often the wrong logo ends up on the ads. This isn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last.

This is not to mean that a PC version will never come, but it won’t be together with the console versions. The team might consider it after the game is released on PS4 and Xbox One.
