PS4 Exclusive NiOh’s Final Box Art for Japan Revealed: it’s Different from the Western Cover

on December 17, 2016 5:29 PM

During the a livestream hosted today from Tokyo, Koei Tecmo showcased the final Japanese box art of the upcoming PS4 exclusive NiOh.

The actual packaging was displayed by Director Fumihiko Yasuda, after having been slaughtered by one of his own bosses on air just again.

Yasuda-san showcased both the front and back of the cover (the back was shown too quickly to glance actual info, unfortunately), and the box art features more elements than the non-final one that was introduced a while ago, and that still appears in all promotional materials for the west.

To be more specific, as you can see in the gallery (which also includes the  current North American artwork for the sake of comparison), the base artwork of the protagonist William is the same, but more characters have been added.

We can see Ieyasu Tokugawa, the female shinobi Okatsu, and the mysterious antagonist Kerry.

At the moment we don’t know whether the new cover will also be extended to the western markets, or will remain limited to the Japanese release, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn something about it.

In the meanwhile, feel free to let us know in the comments which one you prefer.

You can also check out the new trailer and new gameplay showcased today, and is you want to see more, youu can watch more gameplay footage, and the trailer from PlayStation Experience, on top of another gameplay video shared recently.
