Last week, Stoic officially announced Banner Saga 3. Additionally, the developer revealed that the third and final game in the acclaimed trilogy was taking to Kickstarter in hope to raise $200,000 USD by March 7th.

Today, Stoic announced that after only six days, the game has surpassed its $200,000 asking point. The developer writes the following via a Kickstarter update post:

“Thanks to you, we reached our funding goal for the development of Banner Saga 3 in less than a week! This game really is the type of project that simply could not get made without the backing of the best community a small team could ever ask for. Your support, and your help spreading the word, have put us well on our way to finishing this epic Saga.

This is just the beginning, though! This is when the fun starts and from here on out it’s cherries on top for everyone! We have lots of great stuff planned that we simply didn’t think we’d get a chance to put in the game. Let’s do it together, shall we?”

Along with the announcement that the game has passed over the funding line, Stoic also revealed the first stretch goal: playable Dredge. According to Stoic, fans have been calling out for this for a long time, and now its finally ready to deliver on the hotly requested feature, that is, if it gets the funding.

With the completion of this stretch goal, Stoic will implement the ability for players to take command of dredge heroes, order them in battle, and train them through their ranks. Basically, dredge party members. According to Stoic, you will “unlock new abilities and discover new strategies when you place these dredge heroes on the battlefield alongside your human, varl, and horseborn allies.”

Playable dredge will come with three dredge heroes, as well the stories, abilities, portraits, and combat animations that come along with the trio.

Banner Saga 3 currently has no release date, and as of right now the game is only listed for PC and Mac. However, the last two games also made their way over to PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices. So, it’s likely safe to assume the third game will come to these platforms as well.

Notably, you can add $20 USD to any pledge and receive the first two games. For more information be sure to check out the game’s Kickstarter page here.
