Yesterday, publisher Bethesda and developer id Software announced that closed beta sign-ups for Quake Champions are open. Additionally, the pair announced that on Wednesday (today) the game will start its Champion profiles with a new trailer focused on the character Nyx. Today, we got that new trailer of Nyx.
The new trailer is 53 seconds and features exactly what you would expect out of a character trailer: and overview of that character, in this case Nyx.
According to Bethesda, if sly and stealthy is more your thing, you might find yourself gravitating toward Nyx, whose active ability lets her sidestep danger and plan a careful attack. Here’s an overview of the character:
Ages have passed since the peaceable Melem learned to harness the Fathom Orb, imbuing themselves with a trace of its baleful energy to enable “Ghost Walk”—a momentary phase-shift into another dimension. Even when they were sieged by hulking, chitinous marauders, the Ghost Walk saved them as it had many times before. Then, the unthinkable: One of the attackers returned and breached the Orb. With no alternative, the Melem broke their inviolable law and sent their most skilled assassin to the Fathom Orb, not knowing whether she would survive, let alone how she might return.
Ability: Ghost Walk
Nyx Moves into another dimension becoming invisible and immune to any damage. Nyx will instantly kill any opponent occupying her materialization spot.
Nyx will be playable in the upcoming closed beta, which is said to be coming in the next few weeks. Quake Champions is in development for PC and is planned to release sometime this year.
