As one of the fall’s most highly-anticipated releases, the newly-released Mafia III was met with some criticism from fans after new information revealed that the PC version of the game runs with a 30fps frame lock that won’t allow higher-powered rigs to run beyond that, with publisher 2K Games having given new information on an upcoming patch to address that.
After providing a statement on the official Mafia III website yesterday that a patch is in the works to allow higher frame rates for the PC version, 2K has provided an update that a version of the patch that allows for 30, 60, and unlimited FPS options is currently being tested at the studio, along with “other improvements for the PC version” of Mafia III.
Specifically, 2K explained that the studio is “verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected,” with the team hoping that “if everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend” to coincide with the game’s launch, which arrived today on consoles and PC. More updates from 2K will be provided on the patch’s availability in the PC version “throughout the weekend,” in the meantime.
Mafia III is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
