For all you Nintendo fanboys, your wait is almost finally over. This weekend will mark the launch of the Nintendo 3DS, and just like the Wii before it I think we have another revolution upon us. To commemorate the release of handheld, in typical system launch fashion there will be midnight events across the county. None however will be bigger than what Nintendo has planned for The Big Apple, and in typical DualShockers fashion... we'll be there! Hit that read more button to find out what's in store.

It's all going down at the 24-7/365 flagship Best Buy Store in the heart of Union Square. Throughout the daytime gamers can enjoy some 3DS sampling stations right across the street in Union Square Park, which will be going on from Noon until 8pm, where the following games will be playable.

nintendogs™ + cats, Pilotwings Resort™ and Steel Diver™ from Nintendo, Super Street Fighter® IV 3D Edition from CAPCOM, Madden NFL Football from EA SPORTS, LEGO® Star Wars® III: The Clone Wars™ from LucasArts™ and Asphalt™ 3D from UBISOFT.

Food trucks will also be on hand and providing some much needed refreshments throughout the day. However serious buyers will have a much more important choice to make. Do they get off the line to play 3DS and take home some branded schwag from the giveaways? Or do they make sure that they are among the first 300 people in lone in order to take home a limited edition carrying case? Choices.

Official launch festivities will be commencing at 9pm, in front Best Buy. In case you were wondering, YES, Reggie "The Reggie" Fils-Aime, the highest Nintendo executive on this side of the Earth will be on hand to welcome gamers into the glasses-free 3D generation. Everyone on line will also be part of a launch line countdown, which at the stroke of midnight will have everyone throw a pair of 3D glasses up in the air (now that's dramatic effect right there). There will also be a live in-store performance by The HOTcakes, a local NYC band who i have the feeling will be singing "Paint The Town Red". Speaking of painting the town, word has it the Empire State Building will be lit up in Nintendo Red. Now that's a launch!

(In case you were wondering  which Nintendo executive that is in the header image, it's just our very own Allen Park, and if you thought otherwise well then... you're just being racist. )
