3DS Sell Out in Japan in Less Than a Day

We all knew it was going to happen but it’s still interesting to see the hype behind the Nintendo 3DS. Apparently, Nintendo provided shops with 400,000 units which sold out in less than 24 hours, and has already started supplying additional shipments, which have also probably sold out. Andriasang reported that some major retailers in Japan were receiving up to 2,000 units with 1,000 preorders and 1,000 first day sales and were selling out that morning before the day even began.

Nintendo loves this. They love the fact that they can announce their products will be on backorder for months. If you are wanting a 3DS on launch day I would suggest preordering the thing as soon as you can. the 3DS will be hard to get a hold of probably the rest of the year. Although the system is launching without a strong first party mascot game, the 3DS will continue to sell out throughout the year and will be plagued with retail shortages. Now where is that photoshop picture of the 3DS printing money?
