While 2015 was certainly special to many gamers for the sheer volume of excellent titles released for all to enjoy, the AbleGamers charity foundation, which seeks to provide awareness and education to provide titles that can be enjoyed by gamers with physical or mental disabilities, released its top titles for 2015 for accessibility.

In a press release, AbleGamers named Rocket League and MLB 15: The Show as its Indie and Mainstream Accessible Games of the Year in 2015, citing both titles for providing various options of control and play for gamers that may not be able to play games in more traditional ways, with AbleGamers citing that “each exampling accessibility in different forms.”

For Rocket League, AbleGamers detailed that its nomination was due to the fact that “Psyonix went to great lengths to include as many gamers as possible by working with focus groups and gamers of different abilities to ensure a large swath of accessibility.”

The group also honored Rocket League due to the game’s fully remappable controls, a completely mouse-only control option, the game’s colorblind friendly visuals and display, and its various interactive tutorials that “make learning the game easy for those with cognitive disabilities.”

For MLB 15: The Show, AbleGamers awarded the title its “Mainstream Accessible Game of the Year” nomination for features that “reiterates the basics of accessible game design,” with specific features cited such as the automation of various gameplay sets, letting players choose whether or not to be directly in control of batting, pitching, or other areas of the game.

MLB 15 was also awarded based on its lack of requiring sound for any part of the gameplay, along with its “incredibly detailed and complete full closed captioning for the announcers,” visual accessibility with various camera options, an easy to use and view display, and more.

Rocket League is currently available for PS4 and PC, with an Xbox One version of the game coming this year.

MLB 15: The Show is available now for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.
