Last month, Paris-based developer Slopcap and publisher Devolver Digital announced that their online multiplayer combat RPG, Absolver, is finally making its way to PS4 and PC on August 29, 2017. But before it does that: the game will host a Closed Beta.

The Closed Beta is poised to launch on June 19th, with no end date specified. Further the beta will be exclusive to PC. Neither Slocap or Devolver Digital provided a reason as to why the beta is skipping PS4.

For those that don't know: Absolver is the debut project of Slocap, a studio that was only founded back in 2015. The game takes place in the fallen Adal Empire, where you awaken with a mysterious mask on your face, and a faint recollection of an esoteric ceremony. The mask is said to free you from hunger, thirst, and even death, and to be the creation of the Guides, the rulers of the lands you find yourself in, and the ones responsible for your appearance in their world. Their goal is supposedly to determine whether you are worthy of becoming part of the elite corps of Absolvers.

In the game you will wander these forsaken lands and encounter others "Prospects" like yourself, learn new combat skills, acquire weapons, gear, and armor, and a build a team of warriors with whom you will fight side-by-side with.

Features wise, the game is said to possess fluid real-time combat, where you position yourself in one of four tactical stances and execute attacks, dodges, and parries. Battles consist of both solo duels and three-on-three melee battles.

To customize the experience, you can pick your combat style, weapon of choice, and arrange attacks in your Combat Deck to design a unique fighting flow.

You will seamlessly encounter others in the world, who you can trade with, battle or befriend. You can also participate in PvP content in various battle arenas and in PvE dungeons, where you can work together to find rare loot.

A price-point for Absolver has yet to be divulged. However, if you're on PC you can sign up for the beta right now and until June 16th.
