After the massive drama between Infinity Ward and Activision which resulted in IW’s former head-honchos, Jason West and Vince Zampella going to the rival side and founding Respawn Entertainment under Electronic Arts. With many Ward people deciding to jump the gun and quit over Activision’s decisions in the whole matter, it’s left many people to wonder what’s going to happen with Infinity Ward and their beloved Call of Duty games? Activision’s Bobby Kotick believes that everything will be just dandy, and is pretty confident in restoring IW to it’s former glory. In talks with Joystiq, Kotick explained;
“We’re in the video game business. If we can’t replace twenty-five people, that would say something pretty disappointing about us as a company…There’s at least 60 or 70, super-talented, amazingly capable people who are there. They shouldn’t have to suffer for the bad actions of a couple of guys.”
As for how Treyarch is considered to be not as prominent in the CoD market, he goes on to say;
“That’s an unfair view of Treyarch. You know it’s not really an objective view…Treyarch contributed so significantly to the multiplayer technology that’s in Modern Warfare 2 and they didn’t really get the credit for that.”
But for now, Treyarch will continue to be the help that Infinity Ward gets while they rebuild themselves to their former glory.
