Activision brought out the big guns this year with launching a brand new IP in Destiny, alongside the triumphant return of its long-running Call of Duty series with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and as it stands, the investment paid off with both titles coming out on top for the entire year.

In a press release sent out by Activision, the publisher announced that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Destiny claimed the spots as the first and second best-selling titles of 2014. While specific sales numbers were not released in the announcement, Activision confirmed that Advanced Warfare claimed the top sales spots across PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360, with the publisher's other franchises also performing well.

In addition to the news for Call of Duty, Activision also announced that Destiny claimed the top sales for a new video game franchise, while Skylanders: Trap Team also claimed the title of best-selling children's video game franchise for 2014.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, with Destiny available on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360.
