Aksys Game launched the official website for their mystery visual novel Chase: Cold Case ~Distant Memories~, available now for Nintendo 3DS-via eShop for $5.99.

The website includes an overview of the game including character profiles. Additionally, there’s a tab for five short stories which offers players a more in depth look into the lives of detectives Shounosuke Nanase and Koto Amekura.

These stories act as a prelude to the game’s main story and can be read without fear of spoilers.

The publisher details the game’s premise:

The Cold Case Unit of the 3rd Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Two detectives worked in the unit that never stepped outside: An eccentric, Shounosuke Nanase, and a self-proclaimed elite, Koto Amekura. Wasting away their hours with nothing to do was a regular occurrence, when suddenly they received a phone call.

An explosion that took place 5 years ago. “It was not an accident. It was murder.” A suspicious phone call from an unknown caller spurred them to re-investigate a cold case with no leads whatsoever. Was it really a murder case…? Interviewing the young man who caused the explosion was as good a place to start as any. “If the probability is not zero, then that means there’s a possibility!”

Nanase finally stirs into action.

The case that had been ruled only an accident…Time to CHASE the truth.
