Alleged Grand Theft Auto V Leaked Configuration Code Reveals PS4 and PC Versions

on September 15, 2013 2:35 AM

Code from a configuration file allegedly coming from a pirated Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto V and dumped from the memory of a console appeared on Pastebin. That’s pretty normal, as pirates love to dabble with the files of the games they illegally acquire.

But this particular code includes something that is not so usual. There are references to both PC and PS4 (Orbis, which was the original code name of the platform) versions, as you can see below:

Of course the user that posted the code could have just created a fake file in order to play a prank on us all, but would someone really write hundreds of lines of seemingly legit code just to play a prank?

That’s very possible, but you’ll have to pass your own judgement on this one. If you’re an expert, below you can check out the whole code.

Sony WorldWide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida was actually asked on Twitter about it (as he probably knows if such a major game is actually planned for the PS4), but his response was, unsurprisingly, not that enlightening.

He simply answered: “しらん” (Shiran), that in Japanese means “I don’t know”, in a slightly curt way.
