The Nintendo investor meeting revealed a cool new feature that will be coming to Amiibo in the near future: each figurine will unlock timed trial versions for Wii U's Virtual Console.

With this software, when you activate an Amiibo you will be able to play a "famous scene" from either a NES or SNES title that corresponds with the figurine, until the trial time runs out. If you activate that same Amiibo, the trial scenes will rotate and you'll also have the option of purchasing the VC title.

Meanwhile, Iwata also reiterated Nintendo's plan to release card-type Amiibos in the future, which would allow buyers to gain any software benefits if the corresponding figure is no longer in production.

It's a pretty nice extra incentive to buy an Amiibo, however, this also means that Nintendo needs to beef up their VC selection to make the feature even more appealing to buyers.
