After a huge wave of news, announcements, and surprises coming from Nintendo's latest Nintendo Direct broadcast yesterday, one of the surprises included a brand new entry in the beloved Animal Crossing series, though it may not be quite what you expect from the slice-of-life similar.During yesterday's new Nintendo Direct broadcast, Nintendo announced that a new title in the series, titled Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS this fall, and along with it a new take on the series that will focus primarily on the home designing and decorating aspects of the series.In addition to the new title, a new collection of amiibo will be debuting alongside the release of Happy Home Designer, with the new Animal Crossing title to be compatible with a range of special amiibo cards that will act in the same way as regular amiibo figurines, though with more portability and at a smaller price point.Alongside the game and new amiibo cards, the long-rumored NFC adapter for older, non-New Nintendo 3DS models will also be debuting with the release of Happy Home Designer this fall, allowing users with older 3DS models to use amiibo figurines and the new amiibo cards with compatible 3DS titles.Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will release later this year for 3DS, alongside the new amiibo cards and an NFC reader for older 3DS models.
