April NPD Are in, PS4 Leads Against Xbox One Again; Titanfall Tops Games

Like every month the market research firm NPD posted its monthly sales data, and today we get the outcome for the North American market related to April.

According to NPD Analyst Liam Callahan, the PS4 is in the lead again, and again, like last month, combined PS4 and Xbox One sales are still over twice as many units sold as their previous generation counterparts in the same period. Hardware sales also shown  a 120% increase year over year.

Callahan also had a 17% growth in overall spend for hardware, games and accessories to report year over year, while Titanfall was the top selling game (combining all its platforms), followed by Call of Duty: Ghosts.

It’ll be interesting to see if the kinect-less Xbox One will turn the tide in June (we’ll actually know in mid-July), as it’ll be very difficult for Microsoft’s console to close the gap in May, considering that at least some potential customers will hold out on a purchase waiting for the new option.
