PC sales are back on the rise according to a study by research firm Gartner
Gartner found that while sales haven’t turned around in their entirety, they are showing signs of growth.
Gartner found that U.S. PC sales grew by 4.2% compared with the same time last year.
Principal analyst at Gartner said that this rise in sales is due to a returning attention to PCs.
Consumers’ attention is slowly going back to PC purchases as tablet adoption peaked with mainstream consumers. The transition from PCs to tablets has faded as tablet penetration has reached the 40-50 percent range.
However, the study also found that in emerging markets, PC sales are down. Kitagawa attributes this to a saturation of PCs, and noted that in those regions, people who don’t have PCs already are likely to prefer a tablet.
