The Freedom Cry DLC for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was one of the best expansions released in a while. It told the story of ACIV protagonist Edward Kenway's Quartermaster, Adewale, and his fight to free slaves from Haiti. Now those who don't own ACIV can experience this story without having to buy the game.

Although it was an expansion to ACIV, Freedom Cry did feel like its own game. The main campaign was meaty in terms of length and content and there were a good amount of side missions as well. The entire world map of ACIV wasn't available but the exploreable sections of the game were still vast. If any DLC deserves to have a standalone release its definitely this one.

Freedom Cry will be available on the PSN for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on February 18th and for PC on February 25th and will cost $14.99. Note that it is NOT available for either Xbox 360 or Xbox One. If you own Assassin's Creed IV, you can buy this DLC for $10 or get it for free with the season pass.
