Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea Gets New Screens, Item Synthesis and Characters Detailed

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea gets a new set of screenshots depicting item synthesis and new characters. More information from the release also details these mechanics.

Basically the process requires you to acquire some recipes, then gather the necessary ingredients — you can choose what order to place your ingredients in as well. As you progress in the game, new skills to aid in your alchemy work will become available. Finally, select the item’s properties (which can greatly strengthen said item) and you’re done.

Keep in mind that chaining is possible as well. This is initiated by using a skill that matches the ingredients’ element, then maintained by using skills with the same elements repeated during the synthesizing process. Doing this increases the effectiveness of your items.

Forging equipment is also possible by going to Miruca, the Blacksmith. She can create weapons and such in a similar process to item synthesis. Miruca can also break down items to extract new items from them, and only some items can be obtained in this way.

Two new characters have also been introduced: Wilbell voll Erslied and Homura. Erslied is 24 years old but has developed a complex due to her childish looks and height. She is a magician in search of spirits to form pacts with and cast powerful spells, but was mistaken for an alchemist by Shallote and became her master. Erslied is lazy but also tends to overdo things to prove her maturity, causing trouble in the meanwhile.

Homura is a veteran treasure hunter and a homunculus. However, his high intelligence gains much respect from other homunculi (although humans just think of him as a curiosity). He loves sweets and is very talented at combat, which makes him in high demand among humans and homunculi.

You can view all the new screenshots posted below to learn more about the item and forging interfaces, as well as general in-game going-ons.
