Atlus Goes Back to 1999 in Latest Newsletter - Hints at Persona 2: Innocent Sin Localization

A little bit ago I received an Atlus Faithful newsletter in my inbox and nearly forwarded it out to the rest of the team without actually looking at it. When I did, I saw the date on it – June 23, 1999 (June 24 in Japan). Why were they sending this out? Was it an error? Atlus has certainly sent out cryptic e-mails in the past to hint at various localizations, so what Atlus title came out on or around June 24, 1999?

To start my deductive work, I thought about games that Atlus is releasing in Japan that they might localize, and the first one I looked up was Persona 2: Innocent Sin, since I knew that had been released last month in Japan for the PSP. Sure enough, when I looked up the game on Wikipedia, of all places, the release date of the original PlayStation title was indeed June 24, 1999. So, I’m going to bet that this is a hint from Atlus at a North American localization for this part of the Persona 2 story that we’ve never received over here. I guess only time will tell!
