Following a brief countdown, Avalanche Studios has released the first gameplay trailer for their upcoming open-world adaptation of the popular Mad Max film series. The game will have share themes and other similarities with the first three films in the franchise: Mad Max, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. It is unknown whether or not Mad Max: Fury Road, Mad Max: Furiosa, or the untitled sixth film will play any role in how the story of the video game is shaped.
The trailer depicted all of the key points of Mad Max‘s gameplay (that we know of). A strong emphasis on vehicular combat and customization peppered with explosive third-person shooter and hand-to-hand elements. Hopefully the story will match the strength of the gameplay we have seen thus far. You can check out my preview of the game from E3 last month, here.
Mad Max is being developed by Avalanche Studios for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC and will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on April 30th, 2014.
