Ubisoft announced what appears to be the next big Marvel ensemble game, titled Avengers: Battle for Earth. Unlike Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and the upcoming free-to-play MMO, Marvel Heroes; Avengers will be based on motion-control. The reasoning behind utilizing motion-control was in light of the amount of movements and actions that people see the super-heroes perform on the movie screen and the pages of comics.
Tony Key, vice president of sales over at Ubisoft, acknowledged to the Associated Press that making a super-hero game based on motion control is definitely something unorthodox. “This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented,” Key added, “they’re always fighting and throwing things.”
It was confirmed that the game will not be based off of the record-setting blockbuster film – Avengers – that was released last week. Instead the game will be based on 2008’s bloated and meandering “Secret Invasion” storyline. The roster will contain the core members of the Avengers including Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, and presumably Hawkeye, in addition to 20 other unnamed characters.
No launch date has been released and all-around details concerning the game are in no abundance, though Ubisoft has promised to deliver more information at E3 this summer.
