When gamers put their minds to it, they can do anything: conquer invading alien forces, explore uncharted realms, defeat ancient evils, and from time to time, help in the fight for medical research and aid.

Awesome Games Done Quick, the charity gaming marathon drive that took place over the course of roughly a week from January 5th-11th, 2014, concluded recently and announced that through the efforts of its participants and its donors, the effort took in a final tally of over $1 million. After a final push through its last few hours, the group pulled in a total of $1,011,988.49 from the run of its charity gaming drive, with the proceeds going to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

As of this writing, the group pulled in nearly 18,000 donors with over 27,000 total donations, making the weeklong event as big a success for gamers as it was toward cancer research and aid: a huge congratulations and well done to everyone involved with the event, and to those that supported Awesome Games Done Quick 2014.
