Bandai Namco Games Will Be Opening Rights To Their Old IP

Nikkei, a website that reports on Japanese financial news reports that Bandai Namco Games will be opening the rights to 17 of their older video game properties in hopes that interest in these properties will rise as a result.

These are the video game properties that Bandai Namco Games are allowing access to:

Pac-Man
Xevious
Galaxian
The Tower of Druaga
Tower of Babel
Dragon Buster
Wonder Momo
Galaga
Battle City
Valkyrie no Bōken (The Adventure of Valkyrie)
Yōkai Dōchūki (Shadow Land)
Wagan Land
Dig Dug
Star Luster
Sky Kid
Genpei Tōma Den

Bandai Namco Games will be allowing game developers and companies to use the characters, music, stories, and even modifying the original character designs and story. They will begin taking applications in April and Namco plans on approving all of them except for the one’s containing offensive content.

This offer is for Japanese game companies for now and they will consider foreign applications as well as individual developers. Bandai Namco Games will recieve a small percentage of the sales made when using their intellectual properties.
