Game Informer has released the cover and back cover of their upcoming May issue, officially confirming Batman: Arkham Origins. As many have assumed, Origins will chronicle the Dark Knight's earlier years, including his initial confrontations with prominent members of his rogues gallery. One of whom has already been confirmed: Deathstroke. Warner Bros. Montreal has taken over the franchise completely, but will still be utilzing Rocksteady Studios' modified engine, used in the previous Arkham games. Eric Holmes (The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, Prototype) will serve as creative director. This shift in developer may also explain the absence of Paul Dini, the writer of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

Game Informer has also revealed the existence of Batman: Arkham Origins - Blackgate, the first handheld game in the Arkham series, which will be released on the PS Vita and 3DS. The console version is being produced for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC. Both games will be releasing on October 25th, 2013.
