Batman: Gotham Knights is the Fighting Game the World Deserves

Marvel has made a huge hit in the fighting game world with their entries in Capcom’s Versus series of games, but their largest competitor in the comic world has hardly made a splash in that market. Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was a decent first attempt, but in the end failed to capture the size audience that Marvel’s forays have gained. Leave it to the fans to show the big boys how it’s done. Enter Batman: Gotham Knights, a fighting game made using the insanely popular M.U.G.E.N. engine.

Using completely original sprites and featuring a huge cast from Batman’s gallery of enemies and allies (both from his own series and the DC Universe in general), the amount of work put into this game is simply jaw dropping. Featuring fighters like Two-Face, The Joker, Clayface, and of course The Dark Knight himself, not to mention more off the wall choices like “Batman & Robin” (pairing up Dick Grayson as Batman and Damian Wayne as Robin), Tim Drake as Robin, and even Nightwing and Deathstroke The Terminator, this game is a Bat-fan’s dream come true.

Check out a work in progress trailer after the break, and keep an eye out for a future release.

John is what you might call something of a badass. When he's not writing about games or playing them, he's playing in the Kansas City band "Documentary" and drinking as many different beers as often as he can. He's a huge comic nerd in the best sense of the term, with a particular love for the Creator Owned movement.
