In an interview with IGN, Ben Foster revealed details on his role in the upcoming movie adaption of World of Warcraft, where he will play Medivh, a Mage and protector of the land.

He came up in a time protecting an area, and the way he protected this area was through magic. As peace returned to this land he took a break. He hung up his staff, so to speak, or let his guns get dusty. We meet him as his friends are returning asking for his help in a battle.

According to Foster, WoW will be a movie about war that showcases both sides of the battle which asks the question, "where do we limit our compassion for what we consider to be the bad guys?"

Even though Foster's Medivh will require special effects, he assures that his character is not a performance-capture character a la Gollum in Lord of the Rings, "No, mine's not, but there are interactions with a lot of characters that are. There are a lot of different kinds of creatures in this picture that I interact with."

World of Warcraft recently finished filming on May 23rd and is now in post-production.

The film will release on March 11, 2016.
