Crafting games can be some of the most relaxing games imaginable and also some of the most difficult. They offer a lot of variety to gamers and that's a big part of why so many people like them. The crafting experience can allow players to explore their creativity and make some of the most beautiful structures imaginable. However, the crafting experience can also take on the form of making a player's character stronger.

10 Don’t Starve Together

Don't Starve Together Five Characters

Don't Starve Together has a lot of the systems of crafting that come from what the name of the game suggests--not starving. This makes it so that players have to craft different foods that grant them different benefits. The crafting options in this game can seem endless as there are around 19 crafting tabs that the game offers.

The game has so much to it. Many players find themselves sinking hundreds of hours into it as it is a game that is easy to pick up and get lost in.

9 No Man's Sky

No Man's Sky is an example of how a game can be completely turned around. When this game first came out everyone thought that the developer had picked up the money and ran. This game has basically infinite gameplay. It has 18 quintillion planets that are all procedurally generated as well as the life that is on them.

Players will never have two experiences on any two planets that are the same. The resources that are gathered are also unique and the crafting system that was added to the game creates loads of extra enjoyment to the experience.

8 Raft

The sense of expansiveness in Raft is part of what makes the game such a gem. Players start on a small platform made of planks of wood in a huge ocean then begin to get more items to make a larger raft that soon gets as big as a boat. As the player unlocks a radar the game begins to introduce a riveting story. Exploring different coordinates leads to players being able to unlock new playable characters and resources.

The one problem with the game is that the consumption options on the normal difficulty can sometimes feel like a huge drag in the early game. This is the only problem though as the exploration between sea and islands feels like it's frequent enough to keep players hooked on the game for a while.

7 The Forest

Scary Enemies In The Forest

The Forest is a crafting game that mixes in some great survival horror elements. There are plenty of other crafting survival horror games, but none are as terrifying as this one. The threat of the mutated creatures attacking the player or their friends, if they are on coop, is constant. Players will have to build fortified bases to try and make sure that they don't get snuck up on and murdered by enemies.

The game also intertwines a magnificent story into the game that is progressed by the player exploring horrific caverns. There are plenty of enemies and plenty of different buildings and defenses for those buildings to craft.

6 Rust

Rust Gameplay With Title

Rust has come an extremely long way since it was first released in 2013. There are now hundreds of items that can be crafted, and the gameplay has changed significantly. The game includes different missions around the map with NPC enemies. Players can choose to work together or kill one another on the huge servers the game has.

One of the best parts of Rust is being able to join a large clan and go to what's an all-out war against another clan. Raiding bases at night and catching people off guard is also fun. All in all, the game's amazing but does not leave a lot of options for single-player play.

5 Terraria

Terraria Flying Pirate Ship Fight

Terraria has one of the largest lists of craftable items in gaming. It feels endless. That's part of the enjoyment of this game. There are so many items for the players to be able to use. There are pickaxes and then drills. Some weapons feel like they would be in a fantasy setting as well as those that feel like they would be in the future. Building a nice home for NPCs to come to stay at as well as play in with your friends is peaceful.

The crafting in the game works perfectly with the exploration aspect as a lot of the items allow players to journey deeper into their procedurally generated world. This is one of those games that players can always come back to for a high dose of entertainment.

4 Valheim

Valheim Gameplay With Troll

Valheim took from a lot of other crafting games and decided to add a dungeon crawler RPG experience to it. The game mixes crafting with survival and exploration in a way that keeps intrigued within the player. The game does a good job at adding direction and motive to the player as there are large boss battles that the player must get to.

The boss battles and aspects of having to build a home to then become strong enough to kill a boss is a nice. It makes players transient throughout the game and build new homes as bosses are located in different biomes.

3 Ark: Survival Evolved

Ark: Survival Evolved is a lot like Rust if Rust allowed players to tame and ride on giant prehistoric creatures. The crafting starts with what seems like basic building resources like wood, but as players continue to play more futuristic building blocks are unlocked.

One of the great things about this game is the ability to make the single player work for any type of player. This makes it for people who don't have a lot of time to play games to be able to have a great experience taming new mounts and fighting different bosses on different islands.

2 Subnautica

A gasopod from Subnautica in front of a cloud of poison gas.

The best part about Subnautica is its setting. Since its release, there has not been another game that takes an underwater setting and turns it into something as alive as Subnautica's. The crafting all works around being underwater. There are plenty of magnificent areas to build large beautiful bases. Creating larger vehicles to transport around underwater areas is spectacular.

The level of detail that went into this game and the crafting implementation is perfect. The game is never dull as players are continuously unlocking new tools to use in gathering or crafting new materials. It's also horrifying with giant sea creatures roaming around the ocean's depths.

Minecraft is another one of those games that deserves every ounce of praise that it gets. The crafting in this game is on a completely different level. Players can build their worlds that are specific to whatever they want. The game works well online where there are countless amounts of servers to explore, but it also works well offline.

The amount that there is to do in this game in single-player mode or at home with a friend is mystifying. Players can craft in search of the Ender dragon to beat the game or explore for resources to build pretty bases with what they find if they want to relax. This game has it all and changed a lot of how people view crafting games.
