Following a number of leaks over the past few months, 2K Games finally let the cat (or Little Sister) out of the bag with its official announcement of BioShock: The Collection, and for those that own previous versions of the game on PC, you can expect a nice surprise this September.

Along with today's confirmation from publisher 2K Games of BioShock: The Collection, a remastered collection of the BioShock series, a post for the collection on Steam also revealed that owners of BioShockBioShock 2, and the BioShock 2 add-on Minerva's Den will receive free copies of the upgraded versions for those titles when they release in September on PC.

2K Games specified that BioShock Infinite will not be included as a PC remaster or part of the offer, as the company explained the PC version "already meets current-gen console standards and runs smoothly on high visual settings."

As it happens, each of these titles are also currently discounted in Steam's Summer Sale with BioShock and BioShock 2 each available for $3.99 and Minerva's Den available for $2.49, which should make an appealing offer to pick them up now in time for the remastered editions this fall.

BioShock: The Collection will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 13th, 2016 in the US, followed by an international release on September 16th, 2016.
