Although Mass Effect 3 has been touted as the end of Commander Shepard’s journey, it’s no surprise to hear that BioWare intends to milk the universe of all it’s worth. Creating original content is hard, you know, and creating a whole original universe…even harder.
That’s why in an interview with Forbes’ David M. Ewalt , BioWare’s co-founders BioWare co-founders Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka have talked about returning to the Mass Effect universe after the end of the franchise. Check below for Zeschuk and Muzyka’s responses.
Greg Zeschuk: Certainly the setting has really resonated with people, the type of aliens in the world, the type of people that inhabit space. Obviously we focus first and foremost on nailing it on this game, and then, you know, the possibilities in the future are very, very broad.
Ray Muzyka: We want to make sure it’s awesome. [Mass Effect 3] is our first focus. Beyond that, we do have a desire to continue the Mass Effect franchise, and we’re working on the details, figuring out what the fans want, figuring out the right way.
There you have it. BioWare is planning on doing something new with the Mass Effect IP, but as of yet it’s unconfirmed. Something maybe the way of Mass Effect: Origins could be interesting and further explore the various species of the Mass Effect Universe, but it remains to be seen what will be done after the completion of Commander Shepard’s journey.
