(Bit.Trip Presents) Runner 2 Announced

The Bit.Trip team recently put up a new site, along with news of what their next game is going to be: Runner 2. Not Bit.Trip Runner 2, but Runner 2. It’s pretty apparent why it’s not an “official” Bit.Trip game; first of all, the game’s art isn’t 8-bit. It’s not even 2-dimensional; it’s full 3-D, though the team has mentioned that they’ll be doing animated cutscenes in 2-D animation. According to the team, the game “demanded” this treatment, and I can see why; one can only go so far with that retro style, and the progression from 8-bit to polygonal graphics could provide some interesting art for Runner 2.

The full site for Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (the game’s full title) can be found here, with some concept art and work-in-progress assets. No word on what platforms the game will be coming out on, but considering the graphical fidelity of what they’ve been showing, PC and PSN/XBLA seem like likely platforms. I’m completely sure it’ll be on PC, at the very least.
