Indie developer Bithell Games surprised fans with the release of a brand new text-based adventure game, Subsurface Circular.

In Subsurface Circular, players take the role of a detective investigating a string of mysterious disappearances occurring in a robot-occupied landscape. As players interact with the locals, they will collect words and phrases to solve dialogue puzzles, and unearth the truth behind it all.

Subsurface Circular is a modern take on the text-based adventure genre. It features a unique vocabulary-based inventory system called Focus Points, mature themes, polished gameplay, and a story that can be consumed in one sitting.

Bithell Games is an indie game studio responsible for developing and publishing Thomas Was Alone and Volume. The first is a story-driven platformer that had players take control of different shapes as they guided them through their specified exit points. The gameplay was accompanied by charming narration that described the shapes personalities. The game sold incredibly well selling over one million copies.

A completely different experience than the debut title, Volume is a stealth-based game that required players to reach a specified exit without getting caught by guards, dogs, or automated security turrets. The game also allowed players to create their own levels, and share them online.

Subsurface Circular is available now on Steam at a 20% discount for $4.79. The special promotion ends on August 24th where the game will cost a whopping $5.99, so act fast! Check out some screenshots of Subsurface Circular's gameplay:
