Black Desert Online Publisher Renamed Kakao Games Europe; Kakao Games USA Founded

Daum Games Europe is known for the publishing Black Desert Online both in Europe and in North America, but an announcement delivered via press release outs the change of the company name to Kakao Games Europe B.V.

This unifies the company’s branding with its Korean parent Kakao, which was named Daum Kakao until 2015, born from the merger of Daum Communications and Kakao in 2014.

On top of this, the funding a North American branch named Kakao Games USA Inc has also been finalized.

According to the press release, Kakao will continue to operate Black Desert Online and to expand the game, but will also “strengthen its role in the global games industry by operating titles on a growing variety of platforms such as PC, consoles, mobile, and virtual reality devices.”

Kakao operates a vast galaxy of mobile games in South Korea, but it’ll definitely be interesting to see what more they have in store for console and PC platforms. Back in May, the company announced a 23.3% quarter on quarter increase in revenue due to the solid launch of Black Desert Online.

He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
