Blaster Master Zero received a new update during an Anime Expo 2017 panel, hosted by Inti Creates.

The update bring Blaster Master Zero to version 1.3 and is all set to launch on July 6. After the update, players will be able to download Shantae as a new character on Switch and 3DS, where they'll be able to play through the game as the beloved platforming genie.

Additionally, Shovel Knight will make an appearance as a new character on an update releasing on August 3.

Like the previous DLC characters, both Shantae and Shovel Knight will be available for free for the first two weeks. After, they will be available for $1.99 via the eShop.

Each new character adds a different way to play through the Blaster Master Zero story. This includes a new layer of difficulty and skill added to the base campaign, which is available for $9.99 on the Nintendo Switch and 3DS eShop.

DualShockers recently met up with Inti Creates to discuss the company's new focus on western conventions and developing future 2D action game for all audiences. Furthermore, during Anime Expo 2017, the developer detailed new information about their plans for the upcoming Gal*Gun VR title that is currently in development.
