Blizzard Entertainment Confirms More Seasonal Events “On the Horizon” for Overwatch

on August 3, 2016 11:11 AM

As revealed by Blizzard Entertainment yesterday, Overwatch players now have the chance to participate in the game’s first seasonal event with the Summer Games (a nod to this week’s beginning of the Summer Olympic Games in Rio), though Blizzard has explained that more events will be on the way for players to enjoy all year round.

With this week’s release of the Summer Games in Overwatch, Blizzard added in a press release that more seasonal and special events in the game are “on the horizon,” with the studio explaining that “we’re not quite ready to reveal our plans, but you can expect to see more festive Loot Box items, maps, and modes in the future.”

The Summer Games mark the first official seasonal event in Overwatch, with the running now through August 22nd, 2016 and offering players the chance to earn exclusive skins, voice lines, and more that won’t be available once they pass, and hopefully we’ll get to know more about what Blizzard has in store for other events coming to the game.

Overwatch is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
